My very first impression was demoing it at the pool. My first move was a squirt turn which sliced so easily into steep vertical it shocked me. And what was even more amazing was how little effort it took to cartwheel out of the squirt. Since it is so easy to throw around on flat water it allows me to focus entirely on technique.
Cockpit configuration was very different between the boats. One, even though it was bigger than the Mixmaster had much less knee room, which made it almost impossible for me to sit in for more than 30 minutes. None of the boats allow for creeking shoes, but the mixmaster was by far the tightest in this area.
This boat is adequately fast, surfs like a dream and RIDICULOUSLY easy to get vertical. I feel this boat is a better river runner than full on playboats and I felt more confident in this boat in class 4 than a normal playboat.
This boat has more river running capability than shorter boats such as the rockstar, but is much easier to throw around than larger volume boats such as the Antix or Party Braap. I found learning tricks much easier in this boat than the Rockstar.
Experienced paddlers looking to make easy runs more exciting or to playboaters looking to get relentlessly vertical. I would not recommend this boat to people who are looking for a 1 boat quiver or to beginners who are just starting out learning to whitewater kayak.
Chopping the front pillar back allowed my heels to come together making the boat notably more comfortable. I think the latest Mixmasters though have the foam cut further back and may not require this. Also wearing smaller shoes helped a ton. Personally I would have liked to toss in a foam seat riser for added seat leverage. Then again, I do that in basically all of my boats.
Yes this boat will set you back considerably more than a 20 year old slicy boat but it is worth it, assuming you like to be able to feel your legs at the end of your run. Not only is it more comfortable but the design is more refined than old slicy boats. The edges are sharp but not too sharp like the dagger ego or superego. The volume is concentrated around the cockpit with minimal volume on the ends. Over all it has as little volume as possible which is one of the main goals of a slicy boat. This is my biggest problem with the Pyranha Loki. The Large is 60 Gallons compared to the Mixmasters 52. Yet the Loki is harder to get in and less comfortable. In my opinion it is worth the investment if you like playboating.
I definitely recommend this boat if
You want to learn cartwheels and any other vertical aspects of kayaking
You are bored with your modern playboat because you only use it as a short slow river runner for easy runs.
If you want to have fun on the river!
Today, Rheta has become a much more sophisticated and skilled cook than she ever was as a mother and housewife, and I am proud of her knowledge and interest in good food. But she still has no use for an electric mixer. At best, she was more of a social baker who took her turn baking for activities at the synagogue, and I do remember enjoying a good many boxed cakes she beat to death in that mixmaster in honor of each of our birthdays. I have no memory of ever eating her Orange Chiffon cake.
The key to a successful chiffon cake is properly beaten egg whites and a correct ratio of liquid to dry ingredients. Baking in an aluminum tube pan in an even baking oven is also going to give the best result.
Great mom/mixer story. That green thrift store mixer was calling to you. What a bargain! Let us know how the cake turns out. OTK would love photos of your chiffon. And I hope your store bought eggs do the trick. I suggest using X-tra Large grade.
I found one of these at an auction Bargain barn event. Loved the look of it. It still works but I only have the mixers and none of the attachments. Cleans up very nice. Thanks for posting this. Very important Americana right here.
Aptly named for both his cement mixer alt form and his advanced skills in concocting chemical weapons for the Decepticons, Mixmaster has been linked to being a part of the mighty Devastator. However, reliable footage of that rumor has yet to surface.
Mixmaster is not the most favored Demolitions Bot by most Commanders, but he can deal tons of damage if you're patient and he is played right. First, fight and sidestep until Mix has his maximum amount of Special Damage Buffs and Critical Damage Buffs. (having the critical and Sequencer masteries will help with the damage)
More importantly, make sure the opponent has an Acid or Burn debuff and the maximum amount of Special and Crit Damage Buffs on him before unleashing a Special 2 or 3, or else the damage dealt will be rather flat.
Try not to sidestep in the middle of his II or you'll take heavy damage. His I is pretty easy to dodge (sidestep), but an AI Mixmaster's III is pretty devastating, so never ever let Mixmaster use his lll or you will suffer KO amounts of damage. With his Special Damage buffs Mixmaster is quite a beast, even on his I and II!
To make Mixmaster's special damage less potent, remove his buffs (Starscream, Sideswipe; Cyclonus, Screamer is a quicker option compared to Swipe and Cyclonus, whose Nullify is only on a Special III). Megatron is also a good option because he can steal away the buffs and use them against mixmaster.
Mixmaster has a 400% Special Attack buff that makes his special attacks very potent. As mentioned above, nullify or steal the buff, or keep Mix's power under wraps. Getting tagged by special attacks (even his 1) with the buff on is going to be... devastating, let's say.
Short after in June of 2017, his moveset was redesigned to be more in line with other Demolition Bots (Very high damage bursts in a short period of time) [1] The Special Damage buff generation is the the only ability that remained intact.
