Hello all,
Here's the deal. I'd like to start a new roleplaying group for Monday nights. To that effect I'm going to pitch a few game ideas and see they get any traction. I'm going to keep the pitches deliberately vague; we can fine-tune the details once we've assembled the group.
I don't expect this will be a quick process. I'm setting the notional start date for Monday September 9 but even that may be optimistic. The one thing I promise is that I won't flake out. If at any stage I decide to give up on this initiative I will post on this thread and explicitly say "I give up on this initiative". Till then please assume the offer is still good.
So if you are looking for a game and any of these game pitches appeal just reply to this thread and be prepared to be patient.
On with the game pitches.
ICONS
ICONS is a newish Superhero game that takes the best of Fate and the old TSR Marvel Superhero and mixes them to great effect. It was written by Steve Kenson of Mutants & Masterminds fame. I’d suggest going for a traditional Avengers like supergroup setup though ICONS has some cool collaborative setting creation rules if people are up for that sort of thing. This would be my preferred choice as supers seems to be my strong suit.
Star Wars (WEG D6)
Rebels, Stormtroopers, droids, lightsabers and blasters that go pew-pew, what's not to like? I appreciated there is a brand new Star Wars game out there, but the old one is the version I have but it's a classic. Just be warned, my grasp of Star Wars lore is limited regular moviegoer levels so canon related faux pas are likely to be a regular occurance.
Bulldogs!
Bulldogs! is a the Fate based space opera game with a light, quirky tone some really cool aliens. Think Traveller for under-achievers. The default set-up has "Space Truckers" sort of vibe but we're not necessarily tied to this set-up, the game can just as easily cater for an A-Team in space sort of campaign.
Savage World Cyberpunk
My final option would be running a cyberpunk game using Savage Worlds based on "Daring Tales from the Sprawl". As the title suggests, are geared towards lighter, more cinematic end of the genre. A word of warning, while I've played it, I've never actually run Savage Worlds before so things may be a little shaky to start with.
