Okay bad news the Old Doctor Butlers Head is undergoing refurbishment for the next two weeks.

Sorry for the late notice but I was only told last night.

A round of applause to Andrew who has found an alternative venue for the next two weeks.

Here is a map showing the location:

Here is a link to the website (there's not much on there TBH)

http://www.nicholsonspubs.co.uk/thesirchristopherhattonhattongardenlondon/diningrooms/

We have tentatively booked all three nights for the next two weeks under the same agreement as ever, everyone please buy a drink and if a few could buy some food that would be great.

As ever we want to make a good impression and a good turn out would be appreciated.

Grateful if you could shout if your group is not going to make it so let the pub know if we are going to be short.

The 25th is a bank holiday so the pub will be closed.

Late on, but how did last night's groups find it? From the pictures it only shows tall, four person style tables, were there other ones more suitable for gaming?

It's ok, possibly a bit dark, there are lower tables available, the staff are friendly and helpful (it's downstairs by the way).

Beer selection is good, food is ok too (more choice).

There may be some background music/cold air con but they can turn it off if you ask.

Thanks for the quick reply.

That sounds promising then, might bring a torch just in case ;)

I think it is an ok back up for sure. For me, although i'd like more choice of food at ODBH, i'm generally happy with the snack menu and don't really need a massive selection. I think the tables are better at ODBH for GMs. However I think once we got used to it we'd probably adapt fine to the Chris Hatton and I agree the food/beer selection is better there (and drinks are definitely more reasonable). The big plus for me at ODBH is that it's easier to get to and as a GM lugging stuff around I appreciate that. Interested to hear others experiences.

Thought the place was really good.

Tables are somewhat smaller, but the staff seemed to have no problem with us moving a couple around to create a bigger surface as needed.

Food was excellent - great choice, served quickly and all tasted great.

Drinks - wider selection than ODBH, which was good for my own group as it means we purchased more rather than sticking to soft drinks, and I found them to be slightly cheaper.

Lighting - it was a little darker in there than ODBH, mainly due to us being in the basement level bar, but I found it was a nice change, and not so dark that we had any problems.

Staff were friendly, and (a big plus) the bar in the area was kept staffed so that players could simply step across and purchase drinks, food etc. rather than having to trek to the main bar and miss out on parts of their game.

Location - not quite as easy to get to perhaps, but the area itself seems nicer and there was no issue with masses of 'suits' being around and making a lot of noise. It does mean travelling a bit further, but I don't mind that (and as any other Tuesday group will be able to attest, my DM bag is BIG (75 + 10 litre backpack).

Overall, I think it's a solid venue and would have no problem if we were to relocate to it as the official place, should the refurb of ODBH leave us without a decent space.
