Hi I'm brand new here so I'm really not sure if this is the right etiquette for this or not, I'd like to book a wednesday table for a shadowrun 5th edition campaign starting this week. It's for 6 of us (5 plus GM). Is this ok?

James

Sorry for slow up take so probably too late for tonight.

Which is a blessing in disguise as we are in the restaurant again.

There are currently four large groups and we fill the restaurant so we will struggle for space.

Going forward if course you can join Wednesday. We were running a rota system for Wednesday when we had six smaller groups so we will just need to start that up again.

That will probably require a bit more organisation then we usually mange but we should be able to pull it off.  I will put my mind to e-mailing the GMs when we know what the room situation is.

Hopefully see you next week.

It dawns on me that as a new group you might not have been given what passes for our club rules that are usually passed to new joiners when they join an established group.

In no particular order:

We don't charge a club fee as we have an understanding with the management that our members will buy a drink and maybe some food.

We can expect a groups GM to make sure a group does not leave a mess.

Although the rooms are a good size it gets noisy, please try to be conscious of your affect on others.

Like wise we assume that everyone will be respectful and polite.

So in short spend some money in the pub and be nice to everyone. Greatful if you could ensure that your players get the gist.

How will this rota system work? Does that some weeks we won't get to play?

Ian,

well yes, we tried it before when we had six groups, it was not a complete disaster if memory serves.

I have got email addresses for all the Wednesday groups GM/POC  I will email over the weekend when we are being put in the restaurant, that should give the unlucky group enough time to spread the word.

If another group cancels or knows that they wont be able hopefully they will let the rest of us know ASAP so the group will not be forced to miss a week.

If you have a more equitable idea of how to do this I am all ears.

We considered re-arranging the seating plan in the  restaurant but could not see a sensible way to squeeze another six people in.

Are we sure we want to take on another group if there is not enough room for them?

It's only when we get bumped down to the restaurant. When we are in the function room there is plenty of space.

It's a problem we have on all nights.

Maybe we could discuss it on Wednesday with the other groups?

Er well as Mike mentioned I did discuss it with the everyone there.

In retrospect maybe I did present it as a bit of a fait accompli.

We are in the function room this Wednesday to the best of my knowledge. We can talk about it then.

When discussing in general capacity the concept of dropping down to a capacity of five groups had been mentioned but never only four.

I had taken that as my guiding principle maybe I should have thought outside the box more.
