Dropbox doesn't, and can't, upload your files without your consent. If you have Dropbox installed, then anything you place in the Dropbox folder on your local drive will sync to your account. Also, if you have the backup feature enabled, your key folders (Desktop, Documents, etc.) are moved into your Dropbox folder so they too can sync. Dropbox can't do this without you opting in to it. Either you activated the option in Preferences, or when you signed in to the app you clicked through the screen about using Backup, which would have enabled the feature.

I never gave dropbox permission to start accessing and syncing the files on my Macbook so it is just appalling that it would automatically just do it by default straight out of the gates. I'm this close to flicking dropbox for iCloud, even though I've been using and enjoying dropbox for years.
Over the years, Dropbox became more complicated. Sharing actually became more difficult. More features were added. And the price kept increasing. That Desktop app, installed without my permission and popping up without me asking, made me end my Dropbox subscription.
The easiest way is to download the PC application and then the application downloads all the contents in your PC, then you can cut the files and paste in a hard disk or anything you want, and your dropbox space will be empty again.
I created a number of file folders and chopped up the multiple files that were in the "too big to download file" that someone sent me. Then downloaded the 10 folders individually i broke them up into. Of course this won't work if it's just one big file...but if it's photos or elements, you can break it up. This is why I don't use dropbox, too many issues like desktop app not working, etc.
When sharing files on Dropbox, you can provide specific permissions to the person you are sharing the files with. These permissions determine how the users can interact with the files. Those who have access to a file can have three types of roles. These include the following:
The Creative Tools add-on allows anyone to share individual files of up to 250GB in size and collaborate interactively over the cloud. It also enabled you to track status updates, comment on video frames, view file contents without downloading and convert large files into smaller ones.
Note: You cannot assign the Can edit permission at the file level in U-M Dropbox unless they are web-based files like Microsoft Word documents or Google Docs. All files are Can view unless Can edit access is given at the folder level in which the file resides.
I am getting the permissions error in Dropbox after I upgraded to Monterey. However, I can't get Dropbox to come up in the Full Disk Access or Accessibility panels at all. I click on the + at the bottom, select dropbox and... nothing.
This level of version control creates a more transparent process for managing your files and accountability for those files. You can see when your team members begin working on a file or if something is changed wrongly or accidentally. You can immediately check any file changes with the relevant person without any awkward emails alerting the whole team in Slack.
Every migration is unique, and it can be tricky to move data between differing systems. Box Shuttle acts as an intermediary between various content management systems, allowing you to transfer folders, files, permissions, and metadata from these platforms to Box.
The following instructions allow you to migrate your data to a single location on the target without applying permissions. If you want to migrate data and permissions, see Data migration including permissions.
This type of data migration transfers not only files and folders, but also ownership rights and permissions from one location to another. This type migration job is suitable for comprehensive management of files, accounts, and privileges throughout the entire data migration process.
Account mapping is used for associating a source user account with a target user account. Matching accounts simplifies transferring multiple user files and folders without users losing access to the content. This is an essential component to migrating permissions.
Tips:
1. This method gives recipients higher permission to download the shared folder from your sharing link even without Dropbox accounts.
2. You can also use this method to achieve and manage batch sharing in a new Dropbox interface.
Attach Dropbox files directly into cards so you can see relevant files without ever leaving Trello. From your Trello card under Attachments, click Dropbox. Connect Trello to your Dropbox account and follow the prompts to sign in. Simply click and choose the files you would like to attach. Give it a try!
I immediately uninstalled the Ring App and reinstalled. I checked permissions. I checked all of the files on the phone hoping the sound files just got misfiled. I searched the community, online, everywhere I could think of. I was for sure Ring would have the sound files online. I could not find anything. Given the number of Ring devices I have the spoken alerts have become indispensable to me and my family.
With URL shortening services like Bitly and Goo.gl, you can see the number of clicks your Dropbox shared files have received as well as how many times the files were saved. These services can help you to understand which products are most popular and if anyone is sharing your files without permission.
With the support of Bitly and Goo.gl URL services and Orange Dox, you can click statistics on your Dropbox files without any hassle. These tools provide you with an insight report on how many times users click on your files as well as where the clicks come from.
Workarounds have been created; see for example dropbox-fix2AUR[broken link: package not found]. These workarounds are based on substituting the filesystem detection functions by the use of LD_PRELOAD.
But in fact now files are synced with your box. This problem is likely to appear when your Dropbox folder is located on a NTFS partition whose mount path contains spaces, or permissions are not set for that partition. See more in the forums. To resolve the problem, pay attention to your entry in /etc/fstab. Avoid spaces in the mount path and set write permissions with the "default_permissions" option:
Several file managers such as Thunar, GNOME Files or its fork Nemo come with extensions that provide context menu entries for files and folders inside your Dropbox. Most of them will result in a browser action such as opening the file or folder in dropbox.com or sharing the link. If you experience these entries not working, then it is likely you have not set the $BROWSER variable which Dropbox requires. See Environment variables for details.
