Will the Thermostat1 transmit LoRaWAN uplinks with only Rh and C wired and no HVAC load connected to the output terminals?

Question: Will the Dragino Thermostat1 transmit its LoRaWAN uplink payload normally when only Rh and C are wired, and all HVAC output terminals are left unconnected?

Background: I currently monitor temperature and humidity in a small apartment building using Dragino LHT52 LoRaWAN sensors. I want to replace these with Dragino Thermostat1s to add a tenant-facing display and allow occupants to select their own temperature setpoints.

Each thermostat will be powered via existing 2-conductor wiring between the apartments and the mechanical room, connected to a 24VAC transformer — no HVAC wiring will be connected to the thermostat terminals. The thermostats will function solely as LoRaWAN sensor/input devices, transmitting room temperature, humidity, and tenant setpoint via TTN to either a Raspberry Pi or a Control Core PLC in the mechanical room.

All control logic — switching of in-floor heating pumps and fan coil units — will be handled entirely by the RPi or PLC. The thermostats play no direct role in HVAC switching.

As long as it’s powered properly and properly configured it will send uplinks with the data it has.
