[LPS8V2] Basic station disconnection after network outage

Hi,

It appears that the basicstation on LPS8v2 (last FW) lose its connection to server (AWS) when network outage (switch Ethernet -> 4g) happen.
I tried several time, I still can access to the gateway with wireguard (so 4g connection is UP), when I replug ethernet cable the link re-establish quite instantly.

We've reproduced the issue in the office and are trying to check and fix it

Hi there,

We fix the issue on our local gateway by modifying the network manager,
We added a new configuration file  "/etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/20-connectivity.conf "
Containing 

[connectivity]

uri=http://www.google.com/generate_204

interval=60

So the network manager could now be aware of a leak of connectivity.

I let you judge the relevance of the fix.

Any news ? new packages are available for lps8v2 but the change log has not been updated. Did you fix it ?

Hi, Steve,

I checked that the issue is due to NetworkManger affecting the systemd-resolved DNS configuration after the network switch.
We have updated an update to fix this DNS issue via auto-update


Note: The gateway needs to be rebooted once after the update

Hi Ye,

I've just tested the patch and I'm sorry but it does not work. 

Hardware tested: LPS8nV2 up-to-date

Scenario n°1 - using only cellular - OK:
All is all right

Scenario n°2 - ethernet & cellular - OK:
An ethernet cable with internet connectivity is plug, the cellular is well configured.
I unplugged the ethernet cable, and the gateway switch went from ethernet to cellular, when I replug the cable the gateway switch did as well.

Scenario n°3 - ethernet from a switch & cellular - FAIL:
To simulate a network outage the gateway is connected through ethernet to a switch which broadcasts the internet.
All works well but if I unplug the internet source from the switch (ethernet between the gateway and the switch is still), the switch from ethernet to 4g does not happen.

So I update the gateway by adding only the file  "/etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/20-connectivity.conf " containing. 

[connectivity]
uri=http://www.google.com/generate_204
interval=60

and the scenario n°3 succeed. My conclusion is that it's a connectivity issue, the interface does not succeed to detect the network outage.

I have tested that 4g and ETH network switching is working properly.
Can you share the System --> Package Management page for us to check? Check what version of dragino-ui is?
