Dragino MS48-LR RS485 port as modbus client.

Hello. This is question about MS48-LR gateway. 

Is it it possible to use the inbuilt RS485 port for modbus client functionality?

I know RS485 port is meant for communicating with MS48-LR internal modbus server, but i want to use RS485 port as client. 

I have already tried with modbus-read node in node red, inside of MS48-LR to read modbus registers off external modbus server via rs485 port, but it did not work for me. modbus-read node doesnt seem to communicate with the MS48-LR rs485 serial port.

The RS485 port of MS48-LR can be used as a modbus client to forward received lorawan data packets to the modbus server

MS48-LR does not have a modbus server inside,

If modbus rtu mode is enabled on MS48-LR, the rs485 port will be occupied, and node-red on ms48-lr cannot be used to read it.

Thanks for answer. To clarify.  If the built-in Modbus function is disabled (rs485 port is not used) , can the RS485 port be accessed freely by external software like Node-RED for Modbus communication? I want MS48-LR to read data from rs485 energy meters. By using node-red. Best regards Halvor

How to access the RS485 port of ms48-lr can refer to the following link:

On nodered, you can use the serial in node to read the rs485 interface of ms48-lr, and the control command can use the exec node

We do not have more examples of reading external rs485 using nodered
