We are looking to add a Dragino MDS200-LB to an external (outdoor) 65 foot tank.  Is this sensor rated for outdoor use?  Are both the probe and the base weather proof to rain/moisture?  Is there an IP rating for the MDS200-LB?

Hi, John,

The MDS200-LB can be used outdoors, but the installation point cannot be submerged in water.
The IP rating of the MDS200-LB is 67.
In addition, the MDS200-LB can measure the tank water level up to 65 feet and has a measuring range of 0.5 ~20m.

Hi,
Just following the conversation, I've got some MDS120-LB and MDS120-NB, so far (~6 month outside in winter) they endured quite well the weather conditions. The enclosure appears to be strong 👍
The only problem is I am apparently having quite a lot of radar reflections, and the signal reads 0 values, but that might be related to a fully metal and rather small sized tank.

Regards,
Nico

Hi, John,

Yes, the factors you mentioned may interfere with the detection.
If the container size is too small, the sensor will encounter the container wall block within the detection Angle range when detecting, and the detection distance below the minimum limit of 15cm will get invalid dat.
In addition, the sensor is installed outdoors, whether the surface of the sensor probe will condense water, which may also lead to the detection of invalid data.
