Can we extract historical frames by LoRa?

I think it's great that the devices keep an on-board history of readings and I would very much like to be able to query the device over LoRaWAN and get it to repeat the contents of a missing transmission.

I can see this functionality is available by querying by date and time, but is it possible to query it by frame counter? If I have identified that there are particular frames missing it would be great to be able to query the device and ask for either a retransmission of the full frame or transmission of the payload of that frame. 

Is this possible?

I'm using the PS-LS.

Hi, Anna,

Thank you for your feedback and suggestion regarding the datalog functionality.

Currently, PS-LB supports retrieval of historical data via timestamps (Unix timestamp format).

Unfortunately, querying for lost data via the frame counter (F_cnt) is not currently supported.

However, if you enable confirmed mode (AT+PNACKMD=1), the device will automatically retransmit any unacknowledged data packets once the LoRaWAN network connection is restored. This ensures no data is permanently lost due to temporary network issues, though it may increase power consumption.

For your workflow, we recommend:

• Using timestamp-based queries to retrieve specific time ranges of missing data.
• Enabling PNACKMD=1 to allow automatic retransmission of unconfirmed packets after reconnection.
