Charlotte Holmes has boarded the RMS Provence in Southampton with a mission: to retrieve an important dossier for the British government. In the previous book in the series, Miss Moriarty, I Presume , Charlotte faked her own death (with the help of her friends) to escape the deadly attentions of supervillain Moriarty. Now she has been given an opportunity to return to life under the protection of the government, but only if she finds the papers they seek. Her target is a German governess traveling with two young charges.

There are others aboard who are not strangers to Charlotte: Roger Shrewsbury and his wife are traveling aboard the Provence. In book one of the series, Charlotte had Roger deflower her for reasons that are a little fuzzy in my brain but I think had to do with her desire to avoid being married off by her parents. Unfortunately, they were discovered by Mrs. Shrewsbury, and Charlotte was very publicly ruined. Not that she minded much, as it has allowed her to slip into her Sherlock Holmes persona and live independently of her awful parents.

The story becomes a race against time, as Charlotte and Ash work to solve the murder before her identity is uncovered. The ship is approaching Gibraltar, where police reinforcements will make it even more difficult to continue the disguise.

has been an avid if often frustrated romance reader for the past 15 years. In that time she's read a lot of good romances, a few great ones, and, unfortunately, a whole lot of dreck. Many of her favorite authors (Ivory, Kinsale, Gaffney, Williamson,Ibbotson) have moved onto other genres or produce new books only rarely, so she's had to expand her horizons a bit. Newer authors she enjoys include Julie Ann Long, Megan Hart and J.R. Ward, and she eagerly anticipates each new Sookie Stackhouse novel. Strong prose and characterization go a long way with her, though if they are combined with an unusual plot or setting, all the better. When she's not reading romance she can usually be found reading historical non-fiction.

Note: The white grip you see on the paddle is an overgrip that I put on all my paddles. I forgot to take pictures of it before I put the grip on. The grip that is used for this paddle is a black Gamma perforated and ribbed grip. It does not come with the white grip shown in this article.

The Paddletek Tempest Wave is a deceptively simple paddle. On the outside, the paddle is visually bland, standard-looking and uninviting. But like a seasoned monk, the Tempest Wave is a humble masterpiece waiting to be unleashed.

Let me tell you a quick story about my first experience with this paddle. Back in September 2017, I interviewed Heather Canny about pickleball venue coordination. Getting a pickleball venue together is way more difficult than most people realize and I wanted to get the inside story of how it works.

When we were done with the interview, we walked out of her office and onto the gym floor where we play pickleball. We were just talking casually when she picked up her new Tempest Wave that she had just received. I was eager to try it out since I had seen it everywhere. I distinctly remember my first experience with the paddle. I was bouncing the paddle up and down on the face and was absolutely amazed.

Like I said earlier, the Tempest Wave is one of, if not the best paddle on the market. Very few paddles come close. One of the only paddles that I see coming close to this would be the Selkirk 30P XL or the Enrique Ruiz version of it. Because of this, I recommend the Tempest Wave for absolutely everyone. Let me break it down.

I am more than impressed with the Tempest Wave. If I had to give it a numerical rating, it would stand as a 10/10. I recommend this paddle to everyone regardless of skill level. Have you played with this paddle before? Let me know in the comments what you think about it!

Great review about Tempest Wave. I love to read all your article as they make me learn a lot about this game. Your suggestion and recommendation are quite helpful. I want to ask you what paddle do you like to use and what paddle have you used throughout your journey.

In the chain of comments you said you played with the Tempest Wave for a year before switching. What did you switch to. I saw you really liked the Poach Advantage so that would be my guess.

I am looking to buy a new paddle and am seriously considering the Poach Advantage.

To begin, the Tempest pants have Gore-Tex from toe to waist. From the waist up, the pants use a neoprene waistband with a hook-and-loop belt that secures the pants and provides back support. This gives me waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex where I need it and comfortable, stretchy neoprene around the mid-section.

I can get off work, change my shirt, throw on my paddling pants and hit the water. Keeping water, mud, salt, sand and grime off my clothes is key to making them last longer. And I wear the Tempest more than I wear my favorite jeans. Fishing a few nights a week allows me to put them to the test and the factory-taped seams will not leak.

At the end of the day, I rinse the pants with freshwater and dry in a cool place. When the outsides are dry, I turn the pants inside out and let them hang a few days to dry the inside. To store the pants, I wrap the neoprene waist over a clothes hanger and let the pants hang.

When the weather turns nasty, I pair the pants with a Kokatat Gore-Tex Full Zip jacket. The jacket has felt lined pockets that spoil my cold hands. The cuffs are Lycra with adjustable openings to keep water from dripping down my paddle into my jacket. My favorite feature is the arm pocket that stays open for my cell phone or .mp3 player when I have on my PFD.

Anglers looking for more protection from splashes and unintentional dismounts, the Tempest pant mate with the Tempest pull-over semi-dry top for a system that protects almost as well as a single-piece dry suit.

The 13 cast members deliver their lines with verve and emotion despite the complex, awkward and unnatural-sounding language of the original text. One central change to the original is the main character of Prospero is now a woman, masterfully owned and acted by Detra Payne, assistant professor of instruction in acting at Northwestern.

Middlebrook is not the first director to make Prospero a female character. Two notable occasions include 2000, when Lenka Udovicki directed Vanessa Redgrave as Prospero at the Globe Theater, and 2010, when Julie Taymor directed Helen Mirren as Prospera for the film version of The Tempest.

The sets, hair, wigs and makeup, sounds and lighting contribute mightily to the overall atmosphere of the production. Those responsible include Alayna Klein (scenic designer), Mark Park (wigs, hair and makeup designer), Seojung Jang (lighting designer) and Joe Court (sound designer). Ben Argenta Kress is the skilled costume designer. In a pre-production video, Kress said his team was inspired by the Senegalese artist Fabrice Montiero. Kudos to each of them for a creative and unusual festival of sensory stimulation.

Roger Ellis as movement director delivered several original dance sequences that took advantage of costumes made of plastic sheeting. The modern dance number with the full cast was especially joyful and fun.

The Tempest will be on stage through May 26. Tickets are available online and at the box office in the Barber Theater lobby at 30 Arts Circle Drive, Evanston. The box office is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday to Friday, and Saturday, from noon to 4 p.m. The box office is closed Sunday and Monday.

In exile, Prospero has devoted himself to the study of the arcane and the magical. The play begins with the titular tempest, which Prospero has caused (through his instrument, Ariel) to shipwreck his brother and the King of Naples, who were passing by the island on their way to Italy.

The Tempest never disappoints. Perhaps this late play was indeed Shakespeare's farewell to the stage. That view is probably just sentimental pudding, for he was a working playwright, popular but not really idolized until after he'd been gone for a while. But this fantasy on an enchanted isle is easy to swallow, for Shakespeare gives us the magician, the magic, and the fairy sprite yearning to be free, just as exiled Duke of Milan Prospero is yearning to be free of the durance of rule, of parenting, and of politics. He simply wants to retire into the comforting den of his library. The bad guys are bad but they're clueless, at the bemused Prospero's mercy from the opening scene.
