Seesaw is a digital platform where teachers of all grade levels and content areas can create learning tasks and assignments for students. The assignments can incorporate videos, photos, text, images, files, or drawings. In addition, teachers can also use Seesaw to create a class blog, communicate with students and families, create and curate activities from a robust and ever-growing library, and assess student work via digital portfolios. The tool offers a free version for teachers with access to its basic features. A paid upgrade to Seesaw Plus gives teachers access to more privacy options and other features. Seesaw for Schools is for school- or district-wide adoption and is priced per student.

Setting up a class on Seesaw is straightforward, and Seesaw's online interface leads users through its various processes. While Seesaw doesn't include a live video-streaming feature, many teachers have used it for remote learning (alongside a tool like Zoom) due to its versatility for asynchronous learning. The Seesaw Parent & Family app, available online and via Android or iOS, allows for parents and caregivers to stay abreast of their kids' learning and to keep lines of contact open between school and home. A translation tool is also available for families (not for students) for notes, captions, and comments on student work as well as messages to or from the teacher.

Activities library: Just as Kahoot!, Quizlet, and Edpuzzle allow teachers to create, share, and curate activities, Seesaw lets users do the same. After all, teachers tend to be a generous bunch and are often happy to share the activities they create! At the time of this article's publication, there were thousands of lessons and activities to choose from. You don't have to sign up to get access to see what's on the site, but registration is necessary for full access and exploration.

This step-by-step video guide includes how to set up a Seesaw classroom and establish settings for what students can do or see on the platform. For example, teachers may or may not want to allow students to comment on other posts. Teachers can use the Sample Student feature to preview their class and assignments from a student perspective.

Communicating: The inbox allows students to send to and receive messages from the teacher, and teachers can also enable peer-to-peer feedback on assignments. Students can also add comments to their journal entries or assignment responses or respond to comments their teacher, family member, or peer has added.

Colorado conservatives are calling on prosecutors to remove books from school libraries and take legal action against those promoting and possessing "obscene material"; a federal lawsuit has been filed against Iowa for its "don't say gay" law that includes removing books; author Robert Samuels writes about having his book kept from students during a school visit in Tennessee; and more.

The seesaw relationship between the two lows underwent multidecadal modulations during the twentieth century. It was weak in the mid-1950s through the mid-1960s, while it was particularly strong during the preceding period from the 1920s to the 1940s with its impact on surface temperatures as extensive as in the recent period. Although it reached maturity in January, the precursory signal of the seesaw in that early period was also found in the North Pacific one month earlier, which suggests that the formation was through essentially the same mechanisms as in the recent period.

Seesaw allows teachers to create a class which gives each student their own multimedia journal (think of your news feed in Facebook) which is stored in the cloud. Both students and teachers can add evidence of their learning to this journal. Students can snap a picture or take a video, draw, or record their own voice. And the full screen creative canvas adds endless possibilities to create and reflect on student learning. Teachers can comment as a way to give feedback (they can also enable student commenting.)

Teachers can also invite parents to view the individual student journals which gives them a window into the work and progress of their child. There is an Android and iOS family app that enables parents to get real-time notifications, while also able to get notified through email or text message.

With Seesaw for Schools (premium version of Seesaw for schools and districts) our K-5 teachers have accounts and classes created for them. Using a district email address as the username and choosing a user defined password will allow access to the seesaw classes.

In addition to the learning journals, Seesaw has an Activity Library, that lets teachers easily get and share activities made by other users. In Seesaw, click the Activities button in the right panel and then click Browse Activity Library.

Seesaw is a learning platform which makes it possible for each student to have a collaborative learning journal, with the option to share content with other students in class and the teacher. In fact, the teacher too can instantly share text, images, videos, drawing and links, which the students can view on their mobile devices, using apps for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.

Teachers can create collaborative learning strategies using seesaw, as the sharing features of this platform make interactive e-learning fun. Furthermore, students and the teacher can collaborate during learning sessions and parents can view journals for their children to see what they have learned in class.

You can invite students to join the class either via QRCode or by inviting them via email or Google accounts. You can also add students from your class beforehand, and view a list of your students anytime to manage your class and shared content.

Now it is super important that you do not delete your class. Instead, we will learn how to archive it. By archiving your class, you will still be able to access its content next year, including student journals and activities.

It is absolutely critical that you do not delete your class, your students, or their journals. Always, always archive everything. If you delete these three things, all student work and class activities will be deleted permanently. Seesaw is unable to retrieve deleted items.

The Class App...
...is student-facing. Students use a variety of creative tools to capture their learning and thinking in a digital portfolio. This is also how students see the activities that have been assigned to them and turn in or submit responses to those activities. Teachers and students interact with the work and reflections that students share, and students benefit from the individual feedback.

The Basics
Seesaw has many tutorials for using the platform. Check them out on Seesaw's help site. We recommend working through tutorials found in the Getting Started and Basics sections. Please note that ACPS sets up all classes for teachers via a push from PowerSchool. You will not need to set up your own classes or students, so you may skip the "How Do I Set Up My Class," and "How Do I Add Students to My Class" tutorials.
