Hi world

When importing an MA2 console file that I have exported from Drafty, the fixtures appear in 3d space which is super awesome!

However, the DMX addresses (which were entered in the dimmer field) do not transfer across.

I've tried both "universe.dimmer" and "universe/dimmer" with no success

Any tips on how to pull the patch data across, or is this a manual job?

Cheers
Brent

Hi Brent,

It should "just work" so I am a little confused as this code is unchanged since implementation when it tested out just fine: Does nothing show up or do you get a weird error? Have you tried entering 513 rather than 2/1 or 2.1? Does that work? Do channel numbers have issues or just DMX?

Hi Lucas
Fixture names and channels import fine.
Fixture types need to be changed once imported (which is no biggie)

DMX addresses are coming in wierd.
I have not tried 513 because I never use that methodology, especially with moving lights as the address settings are always going to be between 1 and 512

Having fixture positions in 3d space and channel info transfer across is super helpful!
The DMX thing is an annoying glitch I can live with.

If possible for a future release, being able to enter universe and start address info into drafty and have that transfer across to MA2 would be amazing

When I have an opportunity I'll try out dmx addresses above 513 and see what happens. (could be a while - about to go into a festival)

Still a killer piece of software :-)

Cheers

Just one more thing I noticed too, since were on the subject of MA2 import

X&Y positions have imported for fixtures, however the Z position has not come across.
All fixtures are set at the default 7.01m, yet the bar / truss trim height in drafty range between 10m and 6.5m

Also, I used some generic symbols to represent fixtures for which there is no library in Drafty, and utilised the "key" field to name them as the units I am using.

Looks great on paper, however the fixtures did not pull across into MA2 at all

Cheers

Thanks for the details and glad you like the software.

The trim issue is curious to me. Do you use the Lineset Scheduler? I ask because I would like to see if there is a difference between pipes generated with that tool versus a standard pipe.

I have added a support ticket to look into this. If you were to share the .drafty file with drafty.help gmail so we can take a look at exactly what you are dealing with that would be great. Also, if the GMA can export an XML file of the imported patch, that could be helpful for us to see how things are mapping across to the desk. Be sure to share with that email or support@ drafty-app and not share to the group.

Hi Lucas

For this project, I was not using the lineset scheduler as the venue is an outdoor amphitheatre and uses truss and motors, no fly tower.

I'll forward on the MA2 xml patch file along with the drafty file to the support email.

Thanks for looking into this. :-)
