Thanks very much Dr. Zulaiha for today session, and for the student who came to discuss some of research related issues.

It's very useful session today since Dr. Salwani was join too, with valuable and constructive comment specially for those who are optimizational research based background.

Dr. Salwani introduce us with a parameter tuning tool or methodology, I am not sure yet since I grab the term from here while we were leaving!

The tool name is "Taguchi method" for algorithms parameter tuning.

Any one who can understand the method please share with us any information on how to use it.

Dear Mansour,

There are many methods to perform algorithm tuning in an automatic manner, for example, some have used metaheuristics to search the parameter space such as ParamILS or GGA - gender-based genetic algorithm.  However, I prefer to use racing which is the state-of-the-art statistical tuning method so-called iterated race or Irace. you can find more information and tutorials here ( http://iridia.ulb.ac.be/irace/ ).
