Dear students,
Research Progress Assessment (RPA) form that we introduced last semester
has been divided into two parts: RPA1 & RPA2. Basically, RPA1 should be
filled out at the beginning of a semester while RPA2 at the end of a
semester.
RPA1 should be filled out by students at the beginning of semester to
state their semester objectives and desired outcomes and thus help
students & supervisor to establish work plans and priorities. Your
supervisor will guide you to establish a Specific, Measurable, Achievable,
Relevant and Timely (SMART) objectives.
Please submit a copy of RPA1 form by 24 February 2014 to the graduate office.
RPA2 is prepared by students at the end of semester to report the progress
made in attaining the approved objectives stated in RPA1. Based on RPA2,
supervisor’s own observation and other supporting evidence of your
achievements, supervisor will decide your semesterly result either pass,
proceed with reminder, proceed with warning or fail.
Please submit a copy of both RPA2 & RPA1 form by 24 June 2014 to the
graduate office.

Who should fill out RPA1 & RPA2?
1. All PhD and Master by Research students.
2. Masters by Coursework and Research (KKP) students, who have registered
thesis this semester.
3. A candidate is still required to fill out RPA1 & RPA2 even though you
have submitted the Notice for Thesis Submission.
Who are exempted from filling out RPA1 & RPA2?
1. Candidates who have submitted their thesis for examination.
2. Candidates who have passed their viva with corrections.
3. Masters by mix mode students who have not registered their thesis and
do not have a registered supervisor.
4. Deferred students.
