ANNOUNCEMENT OF POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH POSITION
===============================================

The SeQuOIAS (Service and QUality Oriented Information Systems) group of Prof. Carlo Batini at University of Milano-Bicocca (Italy) seeks applications for a post-doctoral position on *Pervasive and Augmented Services for Cultural Heritage*, starting in November 2010 (or soon after).

The position is financially supported by Lombardy Region, University of Milano-Bicocca and IBM Italy Foundation.

The position research topic is the design, implementation and evaluation of pervasive and augmented services for cultural heritage, and, in perspective, other fields. The research activity has the following objectives:

-       Definition of a meta-model for semantic representation of service information: in order to support automatic service selection and composition, accurate service description must be defined. The meta-model will support description of functional and non-functional properties (QoS, business, context and legal term) of a service.
-       Definition of a methodology for pervasive and augmented service design: the methodology will support the design of multi-channel services characterized by high accessibility, usability and adaptability to user’s context.
-       Development of demonstrative services: in order to test the proposed meta-model and methodology, demonstrative multi-channel services in the cultural heritage domain will be developed. Particular attention will be given to the use of innovative technologies such as Near Field Communication (NFC), Bluetooth and RFID.

The ideal candidate:

-       has a solid background in Service Science and Knowledge Representation. A Ph.D. thesis and strong publication records on these topics are relevant evaluation criteria.
-       has good teamwork skills and experience, necessary to collaborate with the SeQuOIAS group in researching new solutions, as well as to contribute to the development of research prototypes.
-       knowledge of Italian, although welcome, is not strictly required. The SeQuOIAS group is already international, and the research results will be written in English.

Salary is 20,000 EUR gross/year for 2 years. The position is full-time.

Applicants should e-mail a curriculum vitae, list of publications, a short list of research interests (max. 2 pages) to Prof. Carlo Batini (bat...@disco.unimib.it, tel. +390264487826, Department of Informatics, Systems and Communication, University of Milano-Bicocca), and Andrea Maurino, mau...@disco.unimib.it.

Requests for more information and clarifications are welcome and should be addressed to the same contact persons.
