Hey everybody,

I suppose most of you would be graduating this year. Congratulations !
Some on a 3 year program would have already graduated. Those on a 5
year program like me and those who dropped a year would be graduating
next year. Irrespective, I wouldn't be wrong in saying that we are
coming to the end of our undergraduate lives. All of us would soon
take different directions in the pursuit of different goals in life
and there is a fair possibility that these directions take us far away
from each other. I feel this is the best time for us to recollect and
touch base before we begin the next stages of our pursuit. After this,
some of us might have to take increased responsibilities in the
family, business and in the organizations we are involved with and it
might be difficult to take time out.

I suggest we plan a reunion sometime next month.

In the past few months, I have gotten involved with the Alumni
Association of the school and we are trying to revive it. In our last
meeting held this Saturday, I was able to convince the school
authorities to be involved in the reunion of the batch. In most
probability, we would be able to get the school premises for
organizing the reunion. The aim is two-fold, first, for us to connect
with each other and second, and more importantly to help the current
students in their career decisions. I believe having experienced
college education recently, we are amongst the best guides for the
current students in their career preparation and decisions. The
reunion hence would not only involve us, but also the current
students.

I must emphasize that this is a wonderful opportunity for our batch.
This would probably be the first time that a reunion would be
organized in the school. However, it also comes with the additional
responsibility of decent behavior from our side. Now, given my time
constraints it is extremely difficult for me to champion this event.
This is the reason why I am writing to you. If you feel a desire to
meet your fellow batch mates and have some free time on our hands next
month to organize the event(which I suppose the graduating batch
should), drop me a mail and I can explain things in greater detail. We
would probably need a group of 4-5 people working together (both boys
and girls) to realize this. Once we have 4-5 people willing to
organize the event, you would probably hear from them more than me,
while I would continue to provide strategic support in the
organization.
We would also need to send this message across to other batch mates,
since I suppose most of them aren't added on this group. I suggest you
pass this along to all people in your friends circle possibly using
social networking sites like Orkut/ Facebook. We need to get an idea
if people are actually interested in such a thing.

Again, I must reiterate my constant battle with time. So if you are
interested, do drop me a mail with suggestions/ comments and whether
it would be possible for you to contribute in the organization.

Well thought, well planned and well implied. ! Appreciate it !
As I'm going to graduate next year, I'm busy in my previous appointments this summer.
 
But still if you need any help just buzz me I'll provide my support in whichever way I can.

A request/suggestion
- I don't know how many people are free this summer. But I am busy this summer in internship and other work. If possible please shift it to post summer, i.e., sparing time till mid July.

@Dushyant- Change the settings of the spreadsheet. Make it public so that everyone can "edit" the spreadsheet . Else it will be cumbersome for you to accept every person's request. Also the people will have to visit it twice, once for getting permission second time for marking their votes.

Thank you all for your interest in the event. A few points - 


1) It is important that you tell us your preferences. Whether you want an event like this to happen or not and in what nature. People who are involved in coordinating this are spending valuable time, which would all be wasted if this event isn't desired in the first place. 

2) I cannot overemphasize the need for you to fill in the google spreadsheet. We don't need to super formalize things but we definitely need to fix a date. This would help people in the maybe zone and those far off to make appropriate arrangements. 

3) In case you feel having it in the school would formalize it more than required, we can have it at any eatery/bar.

4) We need to have a count of how many people would attend the event (be it 5/50/200). Sooner or later we would need to impose a cap and once we do that it would be difficult to accommodate last minute requests. So do RSVP.
