Dear Tracy,

We are running a series of calibration analysis on FDPPDIV1.2.1. Analyses run smoothly but we have a number of questions regarding the calibration file.
1. do we need to specify a root age?
2. if we need a root, can we use a uniform interval for the root age [-U] in combination with birth-death calibration points [-t] for the rest of the analyses.

Looking forward hearing from you,
Olivier

Hi Olivier,

Sorry for the slow response, your email got buried. From your email, I take it that you have fossils that you are using as calibrations under the FBD model (-t). Under this model, DPPDiv by default assumes a Uniform(0, inf) prior on the root age. So you don't have to specify anything if you don't want to.

Cheers!
Tracy
