Hi everyone,
I know we discussed financial policies at length in the DPM course but I was hoping for a little feedback based on your experience.   Has anyone found an effective way to address patients who state they have never had to pay the copayment before and they will not be returning if this is the new policy in the practice???
I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Hi Neelam

This is a common problem. You will need to educate the patients on the rules from the governing body. The dentist risks losing his license if caught. You will need to do a letter to the patient that they can pick up as they leave on the policy. The ODA website has info re the legalities of the practice. Hope this helps

Thanks Linda. Perfect! This follows my original line of thought. Have you or has anyone else found phrasing that patients have responded positively to?
I want to get the message across by optimizing impact and minimizing the potential of a negative response from patients.
Thanks, Neelam

Hi Neelam,

I know another Dentist who has found that these types of patients
are not worth retaining. Frequently, they will go for awhile and
then return.

Thank you for sharing that John. Does this dentist call or send a note to these patients when they state they will not be returning to indicate they are welcome back if they wish for PR purposes??
