There have been quite a few bug fixes that have been committed since the
last version release in 2010.

Would it be possible to roll them all up, bump the version, and make a new
source tarball?

There doesn't seem to be much activity for quite a while so it's in
question if this will ever happen. dpkt is a really nice alternative to
scapy but lacks some features I was looking for (like Python 3.x support)
so I've made a fork called "pypacker" which includes most of the patches so
far. It's already included in gentoo and placed on github.

I would like to be a contributor. I've written a lot of documentation
about dpkt, I'd like to write some more, and some sample code.

According to the commit logs, there were three commits just last month, so
it looks like there is someone doing some work on this project.
