Cloud computing and security certification

Hi, If we will be using a cloud provider (like AWS) for IT infrastructure, how does the need for a security certification tie in? Many of the certifications involve site visits but we don't plan on hosting our own machines.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for your question. The certification requirement is in place to ensure that the claims data containing PHI/PII will be protected according to HIPPA regulations. 

All DPC users are required to have any one of the certifications listed on our About the Pilot page to access the Medicare fee-for-service claims data. There are some certifications listed that do not include site visits.
