Hello,

I was trying to add provider whose data we are requesting to access . I have following question:
  1. what is an id?
  2. What is a National Provider Identifier (NPI)- should it be 10 digit NPI number. We are apply for practice of 10 providers. Do we need to add NPI for each provider or we can add Practice NPI . In practice NPI case , whose name will be there because there are 10 providers?
I will appreciate any help.

Thanks
Kanchan

Hello Kanchan,

Thanks for your inquiry!

Regarding your question on NPIS:

The National Provider Identifier (NPI) is a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Administrative Standard. This 10-digit ID is unique for covered health care providers and required when requesting access for the Data at the Point of Care (DPC) API. There are two types of NPIs: Type 1 for individual practitioners and Type 2 for provider organizations. Here is more information regarding NPI IDs.

Regarding your question on DPC API requirements for adding NPIs:

  • If you're creating practitioner resources, you must add one Type 1 NPI for each individual practitioner added.
  • For group resources, you must also add one Type 1 NPI for each individual practitioner added.

Please let us know if we've addressed your questions

Best,

The DPC API Team
