Hi Fellow Doylers!
This is Hillary Chang from 1154 Doyle Circle! I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the on-and-off warm weather!
As some of you may remember, the past few years I have been working on an ongoing initiative to send clothing to the underrepresented women and children of Uganda, many of whom I personally had the privilege to meet back in the summer of 2018 when I traveled there on a family service trip in conjunction with a nonprofit organization called Hands of Love. I believe I have sent three separate batches of clothing (packed in suitcases to be taken with Hands of Love employees on their routine trips to Uganda), and I am currently working on my fourth before I head off to college in September. Hands of Love is hosting a summer camp for Ugandan children around the July-August time, so I would like to humbly ask you all if you have any more unneeded suitcases or travel bags that I could take off your hands and use to pack the clothing and send it over to Uganda. Even if they are a little bit worn but still functional, I am happy to put them toward a great cause! By the way, for anyone who is not familiar with this initiative, I have been working with my uncle’s former company (of which he was the CEO for some years), Title Nine, based in Emeryville (near Oakland), and they give me any of their overstock or sample items that cannot be sold every season so that I can gift these perfectly-conditioned clothing to individuals in need in Uganda.
