These are truly excellent, very easy and quick to make, and they freeze great! I followed the recipe through to the end, using the water saute technique in the headnote and got 12 nuggets. After baking, I froze them in a single layer on a small (toaster oven-size) baking sheet covered in wax paper, and once they were frozen transferred them to an airtight container with a lid.
Not a silly question at all! The recipe makes roughly 10-12 nuggets total. I put it at 3-4 servings because I find the amount of grains here to be quite filling, but I realize that everyone is different. Hope this helps!

So glad to have this copycat recipe (although you forgot the pickle juice!) so I can use a substitute oil. My daughter is severely peanut allergic, and she reacted to Chick-Fil-A nuggets, even though CFA claims that highly-refined peanut oil is safe. So now I can make them at home by substituting coconut oil!
I would love to get my son away from the store bought nuggets. They are one of his go-to foods when he really does not like what I am making for dinner. But if I have too many things going on at once something that is cooking will end up going to waste. If I think it is bad I will not force or guilt anybody else to eat it. Here is my actual question: Can I make these nuggets ahead of time, freeze them, then reheat? Providing the end results are just as good as when they were first made. Have a great day!
Ditto the response on any gf flour. If you are looking for a great alternative to regular flour, I LOVE Better Batter! And their seasoned flour blend is to die for and are perfect on these nuggets! Betterbatter.org
And then bake them up until they reach delicious, golden, chicken nugget perfection. I like my nuggets a little crispy, so I usually underbake them a little bit and then turn on the broiler to finish them off for the last minute or two. And then the dipping sauces are up to you. ;)
These crispy, healthy chicken nuggets are gluten free, simple to prepare and are made with all wholesome ingredients. These healthy chicken nuggets are so much tastier and more nutritious than the frozen ones!
These healthy chicken nuggets are so simple to make for the kids (and adults too). There aren't any bread crumbs in these, just all healthy, clean ingredients. I make a bunch of these at once and freeze them to take out and reheat for a quick weeknight meal.
And it's funny, I have one kid who doesn't like to dip them in anything, one likes your standard ketchup dip and my other one likes to dip them in hot sauce! To each his own. What do you like to dip your nuggets in? My old friend used to dip hers in ranch dressing and although I used to think it was weird, it sounds really delicious to me now.
Most of the store bought chicken nuggets contain a whole lot of junk. Now full disclosure here, I am not saying that I won't ever give my kids those. There are busy nights where I have no choice because life is too busy to make a homemade meal.
These nuggets are made with all ingredients that you should most likely have in your pantry most of the time too, so that is always a help. I like to buy the chicken breasts or tenderloins and cut them up because my kids tend to like nuggets with white meat better.
I would also love to hear some brands of store bought chicken nuggets that have real, wholesome ingredients. This is probably not the most popular nutritionist question out there, again I am keeping it real here. And when you post it on my site you are also helping out those other parents out there with your suggestions!
Super loved how it turned out! Thanks a lot for this amazing and super easy to make gluten free chicken nuggets recipe! It's really tasty and very flavorful! Will surely have this again! Highly recommended!
With everything happening in the past year, I defaulted to buying frozen gluten-free nuggets from the store for him, which became really pricy! I always wanted to create a recipe that he would like again and I could keep stocked in my freezer. I finally had time to do some testing over the last month and we have a winner! I went with a slightly unconventional flour in my kitchen in attempt to keep things nut and coconut free for all of you.
The use of chickpea (or garbanzo bean) flour makes these nuggets fall outside of the Paleo guidelines, but they are completely grain-free, dairy-free, and nut-free! Chickpea flour is also relatively inexpensive and is also loaded with protein and folate, and is lower in calories and carbohydrates than standard flours. If you're feeding someone with a sensitive digestive system, Pure Living Brand also soaks and sprouts theirs first so it may be a good option for you to try!
This batter will also work great for fish, or even for tempura veggies! The nuggets freeze wonderfully, so I make a big batch and have them for weeks to serve when a babysitter is over or we're needing a quick dinner. This recipe makes about 20 nuggets, so if you're feeding multiple kids you may want to double it so they last you longer. The process of making them is simple, but slightly time consuming, so I prefer to make them once a month or so.
Cool the nuggets completely then freeze them in a single layer on a baking sheet. Transfer them to an airtight container and store for up to 3 months. To reheat, place the nuggets on a baking sheet and cook at 400F for or 12 minutes or 8 minutes on convection.
This was declicious! I follow SCD and my family usually suffers because their diets end up restricted. However, everyone loved these nuggets! They were devoured almost before I could fry them! Better than any packaged or fast food nuggets for sure! Thank you for a great recipe.
OH HECK YES! The sweet potato and salt make these nuggets perfectly balanced. And if you are like me, anyway I can cut down on the extra steps like breading it also cuts down on the mess! Thanks!
Hi Renee! Love your blog! I have a little less than a pound of ground turkey. Do you think I could add ground up chicken liver to make it a full pound? Not sure if that would ruin the consistency or flavor of the nuggets.
These tofu nuggets stay crispy for a long time, in case you want to serve a platter at a party! You can even bake them ahead of time, and toss them in the sauce right before you are ready to devour them! I love pressing my tofu over night to make these nuggets ultra firm on the inside!
These vegan Nashville hot tofu nuggets are super quick and easy, baked, sweet and spicy and one of the most amazingly addictive things I have ever eaten. Serve alone, just pop them in your mouth, serve with any dipping sauce you may want, or classic on white bread with pickles!
Did this recipe with coconut flour and honey instead of agave sugar. Also used Sriracha instead of hot sauce. Oooo so great. Just cooked a little longer for crispy nuggets. Thanks for the recipe
In a non-stick skillet, heat 2 tablespoons olive oil. When hot, add half your chicken nuggets to the pan. Cook for about 1 minute, until the bottoms begin to brown. Flip and cook for another minute to brown the other side. Transfer the chicken nuggets back to the wire rack.
Repeat this cooking process until all your chicken nuggets are browned. Place the baking sheet (including the wire rack on top) on the oven's center rack and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the baking sheet from the oven, flip the nuggets over, and let them cool.
When the cauliflower nuggets are done baking, simply serve them up either drizzled or dipped in BBQ sauce. Then add the creamy honey mustard on the side for an additional dip. I love serving these alongside homemade french fries, but the nuggets would be delicious with a side of rice too.
