I have enabled Dropbox in my Files app on both my iphone and ipad and downloaded Gmail for Dropbox add-in. I now can attach Dropbox files if I open gmail in Chrome on my ipad and iphone, but the Gmail app offers few options (camera roll, recent attachments, Drive, and attach money) in attaching files, and I cannot figure out how to add to those options.
Then, this was where I got tripped up. I could attach from Dropbox in Chrome on my iphone, but not in the Gmail app. I finally shut off my iphone. I could then attach from Dropbox, not on the attach symbol in the upper righthand corner, but in the ... symbol in the upper righthand corner.
Now, can someone tell me how to download a webpage from Chrome on my iphone into Dropbox in a recognizable format? I tried adding the appropriate extensions, like .pdf and .jpg, to no available. I can only open such files in Word. I guess I could then export them from Word into a pdf file. I haven't tried that yet, but there has to be a simpler way.
I can access my gmail account emails on the apple mail but after reading them I noticed that when I log into my one of my gmail accounts on my computer the emails that I previously read on my iphone with new IOS 16 are not marked as read but rather as unread. There is a synching issue between gmail and apple after this new IOS 16 release that is not sending the notification to the gmail servers that the emails have been read on iphone. Anyone have a solution for this?
I see other people with the same problem. I read gmail messages on my iPhone and delete them and on my computer they are all showing up unread. It's making me crazy to have to go into my computer to delete everything.
Same issue with iphone and computer not syncing my gmail account. Tried the fix you suggested to no avail. Called Apple and they said to call google. I also believe it is an issue that started with IOS 16 update. Thanks Apple for the help!
I HOPE someone sees these posts and fixes our issue! Mine is the same - one gmail account works fine with my iPhone syncing with my computer and the other account does not sync at all. So every night I'm deleting tons of messages that I already read and deleted on my phone.
Tonight I got the idea to forward my messages from my gmail account that is not syncing to the account that is syncing. IT WORKED! So now at least when I do things on my iPhone it syncs to my computer and it's less work. If you can't forward to your work gmail - maybe try setting up a new gmail account and forward the account that's not syncing to a new account to see if that works.
Same issue here. Works fine with 3 of my emails but a fourth email account (all gmail based) won't show my messages as read if I read them on my iPhone first. Very frustrating. Tried deleting the account on my MacBook Pro and re-adding it and that did not help at all. Also rebooted both devices. Still an issue.
I had the same issue where when gmail showed "read" on my iPhone, it showed as unread on laptop (over 100 emails were marked as unread). Running iOs 16.3.1 on iPhone and on macOS Ventura 13.2.1 on MacBook Pro. I deleted the gmail account from my iPhone and re-added it, and now it's syncing! :)
Since updating to iOS 11 and using the gmail app, when I get a new email it has the badge number but when I go in and look at those emails, the badge doesn't go away unless I restart the phone. It always looks like I have new email when I don't. Very annoying. Does anyone know of a fix or do I have to wait until gmail fixes it. Also, I cannot seem to find support for the gmail app anywhere.
This is webmail ( G mail account ) icon , & if you go to the settings in gmail and disable both POP account and IMAP account as you posted in your original question , problems will come in IMAP account , so don't do any changes in web mail , the settings are by default .Mail application is just configured to gmail services .
I'm pretty sure it's using IMAP. When I right-click a mailbox in the navigation sidebar > Get Account Info > Summary, I can see that the incoming server is "imap.gmail.com" and outgoing server is "smtp.gmail.com". Also: the folders I've enabled IMAP for, are the ones that appear in the Mail app.
What I don't understand is the difference between my gmail password and an "app password." I don't have an app password for iOS mail, at least not the I know of. Do I need two different passwords now for gmail when I use apple mail? And do I get the app password when using my iPhone or is it something I get by logging in to my gmail account from my Windows laptop.
I just signed in to my gmail account. It shows my laptop and my iPhone as registered devices. It says my phone is signed in via Safari. But there's nothing about Apple Mail, an app password, or about any other iOS app for that matter. It only shows Thunderbird as "Third-party apps with account access".
There also is some discussion of turning on 2FA. I don't have it turned on because it requires that Google be able to send me a text message or call me. I travel outside the US a lot, and they won't text me to my foreign cell phone. I have the same problem with Capitol One. There is no way to login because their 2FA only works with a US cell or landline number. I was hoping there was some way to use gmail on my iPhone without 2FA, as I can do on my Windows machine.
I was getting a message that said "... mail server "imap.gmail.com" not responding..." and my gmail account was not syncing mail after several days. I tried several simple approaches like restarting mail app, and restarting the phone. Then I tried deleting the gmail account in the settings app. When I went back to re-add the account using the automatic Google menu create account option, I started getting weird results. After entering my gmail account and password for a split second the "mail, contacts, calendar, notes option panel shows up and then disappears and the menu of mail providers reappears without any explanation. I tried many times and get the same results. I am at a loss now as to how to add my gmail account to my mail app. I can obviously use the native gmail app, but I can't believe I am the only one with this problem. Any suggestions? (I was having this problem on my iPhone 6s before upgrading to iPhone X and latest iOS.)
I got the new iphone 13 PRO and setup the new phone and I have 6 gmail accounts in addition to my icloud account, and 4 of the gmail accounts are GSuites for business with my own company domains, and only 1 of the gmail accounts is working along with the icloud account. The other ones 1 gmail and 4 gsuites for business didn't load any messages and giving errors that the password is missing or incorrect. It doesn't let me go in and enter the password. I followed the other advice by restarting after upgrading from 15.0.2 to 15.1 since the phone shipped with 15.0.2 and it was still not working. This is very frustrating not having these work on apple mail. I was hoping to not have to use outlook for IOS but unless this works I am wondering what options I have. My businesses are run off my gsuites for business gmail accounts. Any help would be appreciated, wanted to resolve online myself instead of having to go into an apple store.
So google is not easy to call as there phone number doesnt support gmail questions...... But did shout out to the gmail community forum, awaiting responses.....btw i just returned an iphone pro 13 for screen issues and this is another
I don't see the point of letting the user select an archiving folder if instead the system is going to override that configuration and archive the message the way it's done in the gmail website. Apple could as well remove that option so it wouldn't be confusing (or fix it)
I have an issue with gmail not working on the mail app that comes with the the Iphone. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the mail and all the account settings. Once this was done it works for about an hour and then stops. If I load the gmail app it all works OK.
Yes I have the same issue. Gmail not coming through to my iphone email app inbox. Same behavior as described above - emails come through for about an hour then stop. Some emails came through to my 'all mail' folder, but not my 'inbox'. Junk mail comes through, but not my normal email. Settings are all correct. Tried deleting and reinstalling the gmail account. restarting phone. Hard resetting phone. Now I am busy restoring the software on the phone through itunes app on my desktop computer. Been on gmail support forums and now chatting with apple tech support for over 2 hours troubleshooting. Last resort is to restore the software. Huge mission for such a seemingly small issue. Hoping this works...
One day noticed there were MILLIONS of copies of notes made on my iPhone (sometimes many copies of one note, what joy) filling up my various gmails. Found out here (thank you apple support community) that if i go into settings>mail>accounts on my iphone and toggle the 'notes' button to 'off' in each of those accounts, it will stop sending copies to my gmail, huzzah! Also that terrifying warning comes up saying all those notes will be deleted from my phone. Gack.
