Hi, I'm having an issue with Archicad 26. When opening jobs, some from Archicad 25, others started in 26, I've had the file crash for seemingly no reason, I'm sometimes not even in the job, and I get an error message that says 'A serious error has occurred while processing the project data. Archicad must be close.' The only options are quit or repair (Archicad will restart). No matter what I select, it simply quits. I'll then get that error message on start up, resulting in a crash loop.
Could anyone please explain the difference between Project origin & user origin for me please & why I can move the user origin & an example of why I would possibly need to move it please? I have already read the graphisoft help pages but didn't really understand.
Alot of our projects have no requirement for real world co-ordinates so our process for generic projects is to start modelling as close to 0,0 as possible, most of the time the corner of our building is placed directly on 0,0. The project origin & user origin is placed on the same spot from default, we don't really move these.
I'm having an issue now where I have a file where the project origin is randomly located, Id like to place the survey point on one of the surveyor control points (where I know the coordinates) and specify that this area is x real world coordinate without worrying about the project origin.
You can place the Survey Point at any distance in relation to the project origin - that is the easting and northing values - simply the X and Y distance you want your model to be from the surveyors control point.
Once the survey point is relocated I then always place a coordinate dimension object on the known reference point to check its correct and then place a text box next to it with the same coordinates manually typed in. This way of the survey point gets moved by accident you can see when there is a discrepancy between the object and the manual text.
You don't need to move the model. that's the point of the survey point. If your project zero isn't located on a known co-ordinate from the survey data, just work out where it is relevant to the nearest grid or known point and then move the survey point by those dimensions.
If I come across this again, I'd work out the origin coordinates based on the grid then subtract those numbers (with the survey point at 0,0) in the survey point settings in location settings and I should get the same result.
I'm using Enscape 2.8.1 +27741 and Archicad 24.0.0. My Project North was set for 233 degrees, but Archicad is acting like North is 0 degrees - it is not picking up the rotated Project North. Basically it is showing the sun rising in the West and setting in the East.
Especially the shortcut combination marked bold should be of interest - at least at the moment, your procedure is technically not supported by Enscape, but if the guide above and the shortcuts are not sufficient enough, let me know and I'll forward that to our developers.
That's unfortunate. The beauty of Enscape is that it picks up the geolocation of the project set in the BIM software (Revit, Vectorworks, etc.). For instance, in Revit it automatically picks up the city (latitude and longitude), time of year and time of day. It does not seem to do that in Archicad. Is this something that can be added to the Archicad interface? Even if it had to be manually set in the Enscape environment?
Example of Use: new template with preset 'new' fields that you want to import to an existing project. Yes, you can import an xml from the template Project Info, but any data you already have in the existing file is overwritten.
Totally agree with Ricki. The project information dialog box needs a serious update and overhaul. It's not complicated...is it?? The Project Info box should be fully customizable for anyone, in any country. For me , it's all about creating a Template, personalized to your own projects and not having to re-enter information twice - anywhere - whether it's on the Cover Sheet / General Information page or in a Title Block. It all links back to the Project Info Dialog box so Autotext can do its job! It's all there, but it's not refined enough. Ok, who's going to tackle this over there at GS? You? Yes, you, in the back, you raised your hand...right? Get to it. :-). What are we talking about 40 hours of code? 20 hours? Does it really matter? It's time for the Project Info box to be reborn!

However, as you can read - although I may not have expressed it clearly enough - my intention was precisely to highlight the futility of relying on the AI to solve that question because their answer makes no sense at all.
Why? Because legislation mandates us to eg. pick the correct "usage category" of the building (a numeral code with description of the use case, from a preset list). This will then be exported in the IfcBuilding metadata as part of an IFC4 model to be submitted to the authorities for building permit and archival into national data storage. Logically, this kind of information should be in the Project Info. Currently it has to be manually typed in in the IFC Project Manager. Very unintuitive.
