I bought a Brother ADS2200 scanner and I am trying to get it running under SANE. I need some help.
The ADS2200 is not supported by any of the Brother drivers mentioned on SANE/Scanner-specific problems (see compatibility list under ADS-scanner),
however, I gave a cursory try to get it running with brscan4, by addding a udev rule, to no avail.
I have added brother PushScan to Full Disk Access and Accessibility. I can use the Software on the Mac to scan but the scanner is on the other side of the room and it is better to use Network scan to choose which machine to scan to and then return to desk with papers. Have upgrade Firmware.
The Brother ADS-2700W is small and light enough that getting it out of the box is simple. Unlike most desktop document scanners, where you fold the lid upward and it becomes your ADF, with the ADS-2700W the ADF comes detached and you connect it to the body of the scanner during setup. Other than that, there's no assembly. My review unit didn't come with a disc in the box (like Epson, Brother has recently stopped including discs with its desktop scanners), but a simple search consisting of the product name and the search term "driver," got me to the software download page in two clicks. The only thing is that when I unzipped the download file, it extracted into an install-disc-like file structure and didn't start up automatically.
Correct installation of the scanner driver: Do not connect the scanner to the computer. Start installing the software first. During installation, a message will appear on the monitor informing you when to connect the scanner to your computer.

I recently had the same problem and solved it and joined here just so I could post my solution in case it helps anyone else. I have a Brother MFC-9340CDW. Attempting to use Scan to FTP frustratingly resulted in a Sending Error as well. My FTP server is a Centos 7 machine running vsftpd. Even checking the logs on the FTP server, it was showing as if the brother scanner wasn't even attempting to reach the FTP server at all and there were no logs using either the server's domain name or IP address. I have a segmented internal LAN with wired and secure devices on 192.168.0.1/24 and wireless and other less secured wired devices on 192.168.1.1/24. The brother scanner was on 192.168.1.1/24 and the server was on 192.168.0.1/24. Devices on 192.168.0.1/24 could discover the Brother Printer just fine and print to it, I could ping it, and the brother scanner would ping right back, but no matter what, the printer wouldn't even attempt to connect to the ftp server on 192.168.0.1/24 even though it could reply by ping to it. Literally, as a latch ditch effort as I was almost ready to take the printer back, I connected the printer onto the same 192.168.0.1/24 subnet as the FTP server and it immediately worked! I can now scan to FTP just fine! So if anyone else has this problem, just make sure the brother scanner is on the same subnet as the FTP server.
