an activity being planned at Monument Square is chalk drawing

I truly hope that there will not be chalk drawing on the Monument itself and that it be discouraged

sidewalk chalking outside the monument  perfectly OK but not on this beautiful monument

please respect this memorial thank you

best

We got the go-ahead to set up a table at Monument Square this Friday for TNO to gather petitions for the playgrounds.

Can someone remind me when we're gathering for a group photo? 6:30 p.m.?

Nora has the sign-up sheets for the petition table. I think we need someone else to help Alex set up the table at 4:30pm-ish. Any takers? We might need more volunteers to wo/man the table, too. Nora, you got that list?

Yes, and this is on the flyer that Nora sent out to this list (and the downtowntroy yahoo list):

Families <3 Troy Picture at 6:30pm

Also in that flyer is the following:
State St. Barker Park and Troy Boys and Girls Club, Troy, NY
Saturday • April 21, 2012 • 10am to 12 noon

which, given the fact that there are already 50 people going to clean up Barker Park only three weeks after the Bethany Center, Unity House + Joseph's House people will be cleaning it this Friday should mean that it will be clean enough to eat off :-)

Maybe we want to just do something at TBGC and then go to other local playspaces (Old 6th Ave?)

How about? Gather at Barker Park which has defined address, Saturday parking room and part fenced is safer for little kids families, then disperse more for downtown cleanup later. We could discuss PGs plans, Distribute Earth Day supplies, Chalk Art on that park, Rove and clean up State St. to clean perimeter of TBGC, Rove to Old 6th Ave. to join the neighbors in their cleanup there in the fenced in park part? Grand St. MHA had a clean up and flower planting last years Earth day too. Also wave at Grand St. where my husband and neighbors will be wildflower seeding.

We need volunteer to take responsibility for attending the April 2nd Earth Day organizers sign up meeting and same or other person for supply pick up on Friday before Earth Day.

Erika question about grass and play surfaces is good to think about. I like grass and it should be mowed, but not good for impact surfaces. The trouble with wood chips is they disperse and then you have even harder-pan surface soon. Carousels become muddy moat trenches in spring.
Peace,
