As you know there is a group meeting to bring a play area downtown for children.   Also being discussed is a much larger issue of having a playground built in Riverfront Park.   We know that you and the City Council are 100% behind putting a small play area in Barker Park this year. 
 
In order to jump start getting the Barker Park Play Area built this year I was wondering if George can meet with the group, go over what he has in storage ready to install and begin building the play area immediately.

I'm not sure we talked about this already, but I wanted to bring up the issue -- should we get a playground in Barker Park -- of mowing.
Barker Park is rarely mowed, as it is. We would literally have to call the city all the time and ask them to mow the playground area.
So, we might want to consider asking the city for turf, dirt or some other alternative substance on the ground there... Maybe we could write up something for a neighborhood improvement project grant for that, at least? I think they are due soon, though...
