Burgers and B. S.

Burgers and B. S. is a new monthly series of networking opportunities for downtown business owners and residents. It is designed to allow open communication about the downtown area and things that can be done to improve it. A different topic will be highlighted each month.

This month, a short film on the Berkshire Mountains of New England will be shown. It shows how a community dealt with issues that seemed out of their control due to economic conditions, until they came together to develop new concepts and programs. Perhaps the most amazing thing about this film is a discussion about “Berkshares”, a monetary system that they developed to aid small businesses and residents in building new businesses and homes.

There are a few parallels with our downtown community which may lead to some interesting discussion.
