Hello,
As you likely know, the Blake Street Protected Bikelane is on the Left side of the road from 22nd to 14th St.
I'm requesting that we mirror that on Market St from 14th to Park Ave. The sidewalk on Park Ave is designated as shared-use & creates a reason for riders to turn left.
Reference the Denver Moves Bikes Update.
The other reason is that the bike lane ends at STK Statehouse with a built out bus stop. Seems like we could just shift all the parking back to the right side of Market & then have an uninterrupted protected bike lane on the left until Park Ave.
Was this considered previously?
If so, can someone please clarify why the right side was chosen over the left?
Losing the Bikelane & shifting to Sharrows feels unsafe & I think it makes people not want to utilize the rest of the bike lane as a result.
I also believe that keeping Blake & Market on the near side of each other will allow bike commuters to more efficiently navigate the corridor by reducing the number of crossings to double-back. I think this will also reduce the frequency of wrong-way riders.
I think it's a win for everyone.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Respectfully,
Bryan Wilson
