Thank you!

Can you and Councilmember Watson please communicate to them that we need to keep the Blake Street bike Lane open because there is no clear detour available to get from 22nd to the opposite side of the ballpark.

I think a temporary solution that would be quick and easy is to rope off the bike lane so that pedestrians don't walk into it and then plan to install Jersey barriers in the not too distant future.

I think the shorter "Toronto Barriers" would be a good solution.

We can then move those concrete pylons at each end of the sidewalks off of the sidewalks and then just put those temporary purple barricades at the end of the sidewalks so that they're otherwise open to pedestrians during the rest of the week.

Bigger picture, who is ultimately making these decisions?

Imagine trying to commute past the ballpark to the D4 bike route along 20th.

I think we've effectively made that impossible whenever there are special events closing off the Blake Street protected bike lane. It's my understanding that the whole reason we even have to cross 22nd diagonally from the right side of Blake Street to the left side is to avoid pedestrian along Blake for ball games. Why did we even bother to do that if we were only going to close the bike lane every time there's an event?

I think my request to keep it open but take the appropriate precautions is more than reasonable & achievable.

Maybe attempt to bike from Brighton Boulevard to Macgregor Square before a baseball game.

I've witnessed bike, scooter riders either illegally ride on the sidewalk along Blake, or turn left and illegally ride along the sidewalk on 22nd. Neither of these outcomes are acceptable, so something needs to be done.

Thank you all in advance for working to address this issue.

Respectfully,

Also worth noting that Lime Bikes & Scooters seem to recognize Blake Street as a "No Go Zone" despite it being a protected bike lane.

This could explain why I rode past another rider on Market going the wrong way in the bike lane.

We're creating issues by closing Blake Street to bikes & scooters.

Please correct this issue.
