Hello,
As you're likely aware, the Blake Street Protected Bikelane is a key connection from from the RiNo Business Improvement District, RiNo Art District, & other neighborhoods like 5-Points & Curtis Park.
Can we please consider installing modular concrete barriers like SAFE-T-LANE along the portions that are adjacent to a vehicle travel lane?
This product,
https://safetlane.com/about/, will protect bike & scooter riders from vehicles, but then I believe will help keep pedestrians out of the bike lane during baseball games at Coors Field.
If we also add something similar to the barriers used for the Colfax Marathon on the sidewalk, we would only need to add some temporary rope at 21st to keep people out of the lane through the intersection.
I'm asking for the Ballpark District & Councilmember Watson to coordinate this discussion with DOTI & Coors Field. Maybe they can connect with Tyler for more information & cost per block along Blake Street.
I think the height of the barrier is important, in that it it is high enough to stop a motor vehicle, but low enough to not make contact with the handlebars of most bikes. This is one issue I have with the flex-post installed along bike lanes & why I think this is a much better solution.
Thank you,
Bryan Wilson
PS: Please also send this to the Mayor's Bicycle Advisory Committee for District 9.
