Hi all,

I forgot to mention that I’m also collecting names and contact info for individuals in support of community gardens in Central Park, whether or not you’d like to help with this effort or have a garden plot there. If you’re in support of community gardens in Central Park, you can fill out the attached survey and email it back to me, or just send me your name and contact info and any comments you’d have about community gardens in Central Park.

I’m also attaching an updated flyer.

Many thanks!

Best,

Nicole

Hi downtown community gardens group,
Is there anyone who would like to help work on promoting community gardens in Central Park? Here's an email I sent out recently to the Marquette Neighborhood listserv. Let me know if you'd like to help with this effort!
Best,
Nicole

Subject: Interested in community gardens in Central Park?

Hi all,
One of the projects that the new MNA Parks and Gardens committee will be supporting in the upcoming months is the creation of some community gardens in our neighborhood in the new Central Park. There are currently raised beds planned on land between the Willy St Park and bike path (currently a MGE storage lot), but there may be an opportunity for a larger number of community gardens on a different, larger area of the park, if interest was demonstrated in the neighborhood.
I’m organizing a group to go door-to-door in our neighborhood to survey residents and find out if there would be interest. If you’d like to have a community garden plot in Central Park, or would like to support our efforts, please join us! You can take the attached survey around to your neighbors to have them fill out and share info with them about a Central Park public meeting, where they can show up in support of community gardens (flyer attached). The public meeting will be Wednesday, February 2, 6-8pm at Research Products Lab, 130 S. Ingersoll Street.
Please let me know if you’re interested in helping out. We can organize a time to go door-to-door in the upcoming weeks, and make sure that we don’t overlap houses/apartments. Feel free to contact me via email (nic...@cacscw.org<mailto:nic...@cacscw.org>) or phone (home: 251-6631, work: 220-9001) for more information.
Thank you,
Nicole

I think a community garden would be a fantastic addition to Central Park, and would also foster a community feeling.
