Hey Everyone!

The next admin mini-fellowship meeting is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday September 29, 2021. The topic will be Balance Billing (AKA "Surprise Billing").

Briefly, we know that as emergency medicine physicians, we are legally and ethically obligated to treat all patients and we rarely (if ever) think about insurance status and payment for services provided. But how are we billing our patients? What does "out-of-network" and "in network" mean in the context of an ED visit? Why are insured patients getting hit with these "surprise bills" after we care for them? What can we as ED physicians do about it? Let's discuss!
