Todayi tried to install "NFS Underground"(not Most Wanted). It was "half" installed by earlier becuase i had to stop the installation and go. Today i tried to install it, Most Wanted was working perfectly fine. It told me to insert the second disk, i did as it said. Then it said it was the wrong disk with the title Need for Speed Most Wanted, even though i was installing Underground...Then after that i canceled the installation and booted Most Wanted and as the title says, a windows poped up saying "speed.exe has stopped working".
I updated my videocard drivers and all of a sudden the game now works properly. Kind of an akward solve on my side. But i didn't realize there was an update and i really didn't think that was the problem. But thanks alot for the help. This is where to go
When i right-click on the game and click on "properties", then compatability, there is the "compatability mode" where you wanted me to run a test. I ran the test, it recomended "service pack 3". I chosed "that", then ran Most Wanted. The "load screen" shows up, it waits longer than usual and then it tells that i have to insert my disc. It is instered. I take it out and put it back again and try to run Most Wanted again. Same result.
Again i go to properties and uncheck the compatability mode and click ok. This time i get "speed.exe has stopped working" as usual. If i go back to properties, it has changed to "service pack 2". I didn't change it myself.
I have been looking for possiblecompatibility issues with Need for Speed: Most Wanted Version 1 (2005) and Windows 8.1 in the Compatibility Center [Link to Windows website]. The Game is compatible.
Got it running on a Pi4 4gb over the weekend but it was so slow it was basically unusable so ordered a Pi5 8gb and tried it on that. There were some issues, I got a M.2 hat for the Pi but windows will not recognise the NVME drive (worked perfectly in RPIos) so i had to use a USB to NVME enclosure i had. There are also no drivers for the Wifi or ethernet port built into the Pi5 (there is ethernet support on the Pi4) but a generic usb to ethernet dongle worked just fine.
There have been some efforts in this direction through GitHub - worproject/rpi5-uefi: EDK2 firmware images for Raspberry Pi 5, which does allow Windows 11 to boot with basic hardware support, but there are no plans to improve it any further.
True but a lot of customers are on prem and do not upgrade very often, some companies stay on one version for years and only upgrade to obtain a feature that they really need. This means that there will be customers still running the desktop client for years after Epicor officially sunset it and there is still the edge agent that a lot of companies will use for various reasons. (it does more than just printing). Also the date for the end of the desktop client keeps getting pushed out so it could be another 2-3 years before epicor actually ends it
These laptops are coming out this month and there are going to be a lot of them and people want to know if they can use them for business (like us) so i wanted to see if the current version of windows for Arm could run Kinetic, and it can.
Yeah they eneded official support with the Pi4 but you can do it on the Pi5 by first installing Raspberry Pi OS and then installing PiAPPs.
In there is the Windows Flasher tool, you grab that and plug in a big enough USB hdd and the tool will grab and install the Pi5 UEFI and the windows oficial ARM image and setup a PE installation environment on the USB hdd, you then change the pi to boot from USB/NVME and reboot and it will boot into their custom windows installer and install windows on the Pi. Its was a fun little project.
Windows on ARM up until this point has been nothing more than a token effort. there have only really been 2 devices out so far using the Snapdragon 8 cpu that you could call proper windows laptops, there is a Surface and the Lenovo X13s.
Windows is dramatically more in demand but there are way, way more Windows trained people. Linux is less in demand but has a deficit of people. So while there are more Windows jobs, they are harder to get. Linux is the skill in demand because it is the area that cannot fill the available positions.
#4 is actually not generally relevant as most companies are installing an application provided by a vendor. As such they are using the distro that application is designed on. not choosing it themselves.
If you are starting out in the IT business, Windows is probably the way to go - there are more opportunities and the job boards feature Windows more. Having said that, Windows is approaching a commodity - so if you have a niche which is NOT windows, you might do better financially. But some of the best paying jobs need you to know both.
In the server space itself, Linux is the bigger player. It is only the offset of the massive size of the lower paying Windows desktop support roles that makes Windows appear to be so much larger as a field.
It all depends on the company, industry, etc. Our company is seeing a steady increase in the number of individuals that are training on Red Hat, which would likely point to an increase in the number of companies hiring for Linux position.
So I got the game on PC today but it WILL NOT recognize my wireless 360 controller. Is anyone else out there successfully playing on PC with a 360 controller? I tried asking EA for help but just wound up spending a whole lotta time chatting with someone who knew nothing about anything. Their first suggestion was to reset my modem. Seriously. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
1) Check in the options menu and make sure there's not a "Yo, wanna controller bro?" option. Skyrim and Doom 3 BFG both have that and absolutely will not recognize a controller unless you enable that option.
I've done all of the above, including resetting my modem, but that's for a different issue. Anyway, I'm familiar with how to generally get it working since my pc is hooked up to my TV I use my xbox controller alot. There is a control method selection in the options but the controller doesn't show as an option. My other game work with it, such as borderlands 2 and *shocker* NFS Hot Pursuit. Also works in steam big picture mode. I have a very bad feeling that Criterion fucked up and omitted support for the wireless adapter. I've seen that before in a couple of cases. I think Dead Rising 2 had that issue. I'm just trying to see if anyone else has the same issue to verify that I'm not crazy.
I'm on Windows 8 and wireless controller support is working perfectly for me. The only other suggestion I have that hasn't been given is to try and repair the install. I'm not at my home PC right now so I can't confirm if it's there for Most Wanted, but a few games (like Battlefield 3) have the option when you right click the game in Origin. If it isn't there then you might have to try a redownload. It's stupid how Origin doesn't have it for every game like Steam does.
Driver issues, and known issues with the wireless hub for the controller were most likely the real issue there. A big reason why I use a WIRED controller instead, solves so much of these headaches if you really appreciate using a controller with a decent amount of PC titles. The Wireless hub itself is known to be a piece of junk, hence why it's discontinued and they haven't sold it in years. Something to do with it burning through more power than it should, and burning itself out within short work (and I guess they never bothered to just fix it and keep selling it... low demand? at the time definitely)
There IS actually some 'new' drivers for the 360pad on windows... they aren't super new BUT they actually are newer than any drivers windows finds itself through windows update sometimes, and definitely newer than drivers that were provided by a disc or whatever. With the newest drivers when you hit the home button it actually pulls up a dialog, where as drivers I had before (and actually worked perfectly) did nothing with that button. I assume this can possibly help in funky situations like the OP where drivers of your other devices may conflict. I'll check my history and see if I can dig up the drivers, so in case you wanna try them out you can.
A few things: I am fully aware of the driver situation that you refer to. I've been running on those drivers for months, possibly years now. They haven't been updated for quite some time. That wasn't the issue.
Second, I've been using the same wireless adapter for years(I've only ever purchased one). Yes, they require a bit more power, but the lesson there is to not use shitty motherboards, as was an issue for me when I first got the thing and it didn't work with the system I had at the time. That also, wasn't the issue.
The Issue, as I already said, was that the game saw my saitek eclipse keyboard(drivers make it appear as a USB Gaming Keyboard Pro) as an unsupported gamepad. Hence once unplugging that, everything works swimmingly. I didn't take a screen cap as I'm typing this on my laptop, but in the menus of the game, when the keyboard IS connected, I get two options for control method. "Keyboard" and "USB Gaming Keyboard Pro" the latter of which cannot be configured. I suspect that if I hook up my logitech G27 at the same time I'd get a similar issue. As I mentioned, my controller works perfectly in every other game that supports it. There are those random games that flat out do not support the wireless controller specifically, but that is not the focus of this discussion.
