TheModel 1005 is constructed with a low profile machined billet aluminum housing. Four rotary switches are used to set the operating modes (such as single or dual fire, advance curve family, and multi-spark), adjust the timing advance, and select the RPM limit. Two diagnostic LEDs indicate status and the state of the vacuum switch (VOES). The status LED is also used for static timing, as it will flash when the engine reaches top dead center (TDC).
Single or dual fire mode is also switch selectable, this flexibility allows you to initially install the unit and run it in dual fire mode with your stock coil. Then you can then easily upgrade to single fire by install our part number 2005 coil and 3003 wires. If you have a tach, it will continue to operate properly. Note: Dual Fire = 360 ignition firing and Single Fire = 720 ignition firing.
A special feature allows the double use of the tachometer wire so when the engine is not running it connects to USB adapter pn 18014 so a laptop PC using our PC Link Evo Software can connect to the 1005 ignition when the engine is not running. PC link Evo Software is not required for normal setup or operation. It is used to access additional features for precision ignition curve adjustment via dyno tuning (such as programming a custom advance curve and setting rear cylinder timing offset). The USB interface pn 18014 is sold separately, and our PC Link Evo Windows compatible software is available for download. The software will operate in demo mode without an ignition attached.
Kick Start Capability
The Model 1005 is primarily intended for electric start applications. However, Rev 7.0 and newer 1005s-ex,1005-ex and 1005 units (manufactured after January, 2006) can be programmed for kick start mode by using our PC Link Evo software and optional USB interface pn 18014. If you order on-line, you can add a note stating that you require kick start capability and we will pre-program the unit for you at no extra cost. When programmed for kick start mode, the unit has zero cranking delay and a 30 second timeout before the current to the coil is shutoff.
Sportster 1200S with Dual Plug Heads
The Sportster1200S model with dual plug heads comes with a special ignition module, similar to that used on Twin-Cam 88 models. If you require a programmable aftermarket ignition for the 1200S, we have the solution. You can use our External Ignition version pn 1007-EX (not the 1005S). The original equipment coil has low resistance primary windings that are not compatible with our Ignition. You must replace the original equipment coil with an aftermarket four tower coil, such as the Dyna DC6-4, that has 3 ohm primary resistance. Please refer to our Dual Spark Plug Tech Note for more details. You will have to remove the original equipment MAP sensor. You will also require our timing rotor (P/N 18004) and VOES switch (P/N 18010).

Let me start off by stating an axiom everyone should be aware of - everyone loves Ignition. And in case you are wondering what an axiom is, its a fact so basic that it needs no proof. It has to be the most loveable game I've ever played. Now that I got this shameless personal impression of the game off my chest, I'll try to write an objective review.
Ignition was developed by a small Swedish company called UDS (Unique Development Studios) and distributed by Virgin. Unfortunately, UDS is closed today, probably because of quite a few unsuccessful titles they launched after Ignition. However, you are probably wondering why Ignition received all the hype and praise. First of all, its concept was simple - it had to look great, feel great and constantly keep you wanting more and more. It succeeded flawlessly in all of those segments, but most of all, its fun factor was off the scale.
There are quite a few modes of play. The single player mode features championship, single race, time trial and pursue races. In championship, you race all available tracks and earn points. If you collect most points through all races, a new track and car get unlocked. Once you complete a championship, the game difficulty will automatically increase from novice to amateur. Of course, you can return it to novice, but in order to unlock new tracks and cars, you will also have to win championships in amateur and professional difficulty levels. Single race mode is just that - a single race with a car and track of your choice. Pursuit is similar, but with a slight twist - each time a lap is completed, the last car is destroyed, and thus kicked out of the race. This goes on until there is just one car left - the winner of course. Last but not least is the time trial mode in which you can race against the ghost car which shows how you drove when the track record was made. This is great for practicing. Single player mode is just the tip of the iceberg though. Multiplayer offers two more modes - splitscreen and network.
Graphics, level design and sounds are also a story for itself. The perspective moves about as you storm through twisty roads, bridge passes, cliffs serpents and canyons. Calling it bird perspective would be an insult since the game offers a full-blown 3D engine that looks and performs amazing. The DOS mode will limit you to 320x240 resolution, but you can enjoy the stunning look in 800x600 when playing under Windows. There are 10 levels in total, and some will complain about this, but the level design is so diverse and beautiful, you won't be bored even after driving around for countless number of laps. Every track features special jumps, twists and shortcuts that can be passed in an infinite number of ways. Basically, every lap is an unique experience. Also, every car has a set of characteristics that determine how fast it goes, how well it handles and how quickly the turbo charges. The turbo? Yes, every car has a regenerating turbo that will give you a speed burst for a short amount of fun. Using those in the right moment is critical for winning races. Also, each car produces a special sound when using the turbo. For example, when driving the police car, its sirenes will light up and sound the alarm, in school bus you will hear children screaming and cheering etc.
If you were wondering what the point of this game was, I will have to dissapoint you by telling you there is just one - to win the race and laugh at your looser opponents / friends. At a first glance it might seem a bit daft, but actually its more fun and addictive than you could ever imagine. Now would be a good time to conclude this review since only the most persistant of you actually read all the way until here :) There is just one more thing to say - this game is absolutely magnificent so go get it right away!! A straight 5, no thinking necessary.
Research funding is often fixed to a set body of work. Much like the process of developing a winning racing car, scientific discovery rarely follows a linear path. There are new leads or unexpected breakthroughs. Additional funds are needed to quickly exploit an opportunity and avoid high potential ideas being shelved.
Race Against Dementia Ignition Grants are available for up to 24 months duration and funding up to 100,000. Applications are accepted from UK-based early and mid-career researchers, including current and past Race Against Dementia Fellows, however applications from more senior researchers will also be considered, and all will be subject to our peer review process. There are no limits on the number of applications from an institution but only one application per applicant is allowed
The two-stage application process is designed to be simple and rapid. To apply please fill in the Application Form below and submit it to
igniti...@raceagainstdementia.com. After peer-review of the applications, top applicants will then be invited to an interview.
The review panel will award grants on scientific merit and on the quality of the application and applicants. The Grant Panel Members will review all applications in advance of a panel meeting and then discuss and score each before inviting applicants to attend an interview.
Before the interview applicants will be asked to submit an elevator pitch-style video. At the interview applicants will be given the chance to respond to questions or concerns about their application from a panel of reviewers. After the interviews the panel will make recommendations for funding.
These recommendations will be presented to the Race Against Dementia trustees for final approval. The terms and conditions of the grant will be outlined in a contract drawn up once the grants have been awarded. Please note Race Against Dementia does not pay institutional overheads on research grants.

For anyone wishing to install a "missile" type ignition switch and start button, this is just a quick "how to" wire it up and make it plug in without butchering any of your original loom. If your ignition switch has stuffed up like mine, and you couldn't be bothered finding a replacement, or just like to have something different, just read on.
