OHand at least for one of my phones - it would NOT work when syncing to GDrive to my SD card. Even when I gave Joplin the permission to use the SD card it would not cooperate and complained it could not read or write the sync files. I suspect the problem is with the OS. Internal storage worked fine in both my Android phones.
Yep, any client without access to a particular Cloud drives API would have to use some other method. It should be the same as the GDrive method, just substitute that drive's sync folder for your chosen cloud drive client. Provided ALL your computers / devices can access the drive it should work.
Since I wrote this I've had a few disastrously failures using File Sync over a cloud drive. I got fouled up syncs a few times. So, I begrudgingly switched to using OneDrive for direct sync and have not had an issue with it since. It chaps my XXX to use OneDrive, I am loathe to use OneDrive but it works. I have few enough notes that it does not even come close to touching the limit of the free account. I am waiting for MS to screw this up or drop the free accounts. After that I think I will switch to manually syncing. This too is not available to Linux as AFAIK, MS never opened OneDrive up toe Linux clients.
However, as all the embeds in this old article about the filesystem tool now show a Google Drive folder syncing app called "AutoSync" (ironically another name applicable to both filesystems and cars) it seems safe to assume that it's the current version of the app referred to in the OP comment by @Rootman.
No, I've not tried. I simply use OneDrive for now. I don't want to have a server running all the time while I'm away from home so I can sync all my devices on the fly. Sure shootin' if I need some critical note later in the day I need it to sync with my phone so I have it. There are plenty of times that I create a note for technical info and need it right away on one of my phones.
I'm trying to update my vault with Google Drive. When I try to update my Drive vault, it tells me to set up sync. I'm directed to the sign-in page, which appears to work. However, once I get back to Enpass, I just get a spinning icon. I already have passwords saved to Google Drive. Do I need to delete what I already have in the cloud to upload the current info?
For quick troubleshooting, kindly logout from the google-drive cloud account from your default browser and try to set-up sync again with the same cloud. If the problem persists, please make another browser a default browser to set-up sync with Google-drive and check.
I tried to set up sync through Firefox and Microsoft Edge, after first trying Chrome, and I'm still having the same problem. I get the message that I'm being redirected to Google Drive login page even after I signed in, along with the spinning icon. I'm on version 6.6.0775.
I can see that there is some problem in the redirection from browser to app. Please try to copy the URL from the browser where it is stuck and not opening the app. Once the link is copied open the Enpass app and share the finding.
I am posting this in hope there is a bug that can be identified with the latest update 7.10.21256.17002, 2021-09-13 and autosaving function in rhino.
I use onedrive/ sharepoint cloud services in our studio, recently after the latest update I start having a dialog pop up asking/ saying the file has been altered by another program and needing confirmation on file saving, 3 options 1. save anyway; 2. revert changes; 3. cancel.
I kind of understand that the Auto Saving function is not part of Rhino, but still this issue only appeard/appears when running Rhino 7 and not on the old Rhino 5/6 and is only related to Rhino and no other software.
On windows, the google drive synch mechanism was slow and lethargic, and seemed to do things out of order. It would start, then pause or go to sleep. And uploading the original vault was going to take a week (only 20 gigs!)
Then I discovered RCLONE. Rclone has all sorts of additional settings for optimization. You need to set it up with your own (or borrowed) client id. You can find settings online for transfer optimization. This made using Gdrive much more reasonable to work with.
GoodSync is a good and reliable choice for such cases, also you can take a look at the other alternatives like Carbonite, Syncback, Gs Richcopy 360, or SyncThing.
Also, there are free tools like Duplicati and FreefileSync
I have noticed that in this syncing process all of a sudden my Macintosh HD is filling up like crazy. Come to find out that it is my Library -> Mobile Documents -> DEVONthink Pro Office -> DEVONthink folder that has 115GB of data in there!
I am just setting up my first DEVONthink databases. I have 3 databases syncing to icloud with DTTG on my iphone. 2 of the databses together total about 12 gb and the third does not have anything in it. yet.
Somehow during this process of trying to free up space on my macbook pro, I noticed that the same mobile documents folder that the OP referenced above has reached a size of 100+ gb which has filled up my hard drive to maximum capacity. My actual DEVONthink databases are only about 12 gb.
Does that size for the mobile documents folder make sense? I am still a bit confused by this. I have a few different pictures in my head of how this is working but I am getting results back that do not match up perfectly with these pictures.
From your responses to my support email I took it to be that the mobile documents folder would contain the actual file contents of the files that you have indexed so that you can download them on demand from other synced devices (if you set it up this way as opposed to unchecking the Synchronize contents of indexed items). If this is this the case, should my mobile documents folder be at least as big as the files I indexed (100 + GB)?
This is how I anticipated indexing and syncing to work. I figured just references/links to the location of the files would be in the database and sync locations with the ability to download them on demand. In my particular case, since my files are on an external hard drive, I also expected they will not be available to download on my phone unless that external hard drive is connected to my laptop.
If this scenario is correct, given my indexed file size total of 100+ GB, would a 30 GB mobile documents folder size make sense? Also, why can I download only some of the videos on demand on my phone?
I also wondered where my disk spaces goes. My 20 GByte database added additional 40 GByte to the Mobile Documents folder. So I cleaned up the sync store and after setting up sync again Mobile Documents now holds only 30 GByte.
A way that you can kind of sync you Google drive, is to select the Google drive folder into a network device, however this would require the computer to be turned on in order to sync Google drive on your NAS.
I use GoodSync on my MyCloud Gen1 , when I try to synchronize Gdrive with MyCloud my synchronization stuck on authorization. I install Lynx , but for authorization need JavaScript must be execute, Lynx doesnt support JavaScripts.
Any Ideas ?
1- Download Google Drive if not downloaded and Sync files to somewhere on your laptop / Desktop
2- Sync Google Drive with all folders or selected folders, you will find that while running it for the first time.
3- Match your MyCloud Folders Setup to Google Drive Folders Setup if you like.
2- Download WD Sync and connect it to your MyCloud Device. / =904#WD_downloads
3- Right click on WD Sync in System Try afte ryou run and choose setting
4- You will see current folder created by WD Sync Called My Cloud , Click on Add Folder , Choose The Google Drive folder on your local laptop/Desktop you want to sync " Choose your specific subfolder as we will organize folders to match My Cloud to our Google Drive setup if you like.
5- Next Choose the Local folder on Mycloud you want to sync that specific folder to
6- Repeat the process for each folder.
I think you can achieve what you want by going through the same steps and choose your WD as your Google drive folder , for Google drive to be able to access it you will need to settle with the public folder or create a folder that is publicly accessible. And just let Google drive run in the background and download directly to your WD through your laptop or desktop
While one is waiting (or praying) for WD to maybe (if the planets align) to update either the My Cloud firmware or the WD apps/software to sync between cloud based services and the My Cloud. One can use the unofficial GoodSync mod to possibly perform a sync between cloud service and the My Cloud without the need for a computer or mobile device to initiate the sync/transfer.
Of course there are other ways to possibly sync content between the My Cloud and online cloud services that involve mapping the My Cloud to the local computer and using the cloud service software to access that mapped drive.
Bottom line is there is no easy way to directly sync (or backup) a My Cloud device to an online storage service like Google Drive WITHOUT having to use a computer or other device as an intermediary. The link(s) posted above indicate how to use SSH to install a third party unsupported service that would allow the My Cloud to directly backup to a cloud based storage service.
Dropbox only syncs the files and folders that are located in your Dropbox folder. If you have files or folders on another drive that you want to sync, you need to move them into your Dropbox folder or, if the other drive is external, use the Backup feature to back up the entire drive.
One function/feature I'm trying to implement is synchronisation with my Google Drive. My current Windows server runs SyncBack Pro to synchronise various folders on the server with my Google Drive (and visa-versa).
