Ileft the alarm vibrating and opened the phone's volume controls; the alarm volume was on (half way on the bar) and ringtone was off. I slid the ringtone volume up and there it was, my selected alarm song was playing.
Hi!. I ve been almost 10 years using, first Skype, and now Teams and I really need to change the outcome ring tone. Is too much. It really makes me fill bad every time I listen to that sound. Any idea of how to change it?
@MM_MCSI have not. I thought I had a hack work around, but it stopped working after rebooting my computer. It seems like such a small thing that could easily be put in place and that would be basic for any phone system, but I haven't seen any indication that the feature is even on Microsoft's radar.
After some testing and poking around, the culprit seems to be the "Sync with ringtone" vibration setting! When selected, there is no sound. If you choose ANY other vibration setting from the list - ringtone is instantly back to normal!
My wife just bought a new iPhone 13 a week ago, ringtone is hard to hear even ringtone sound and haptics is set to the loudest setting. Notification sounds r louder than ringtone. Why? Is the iPhone defective or just a software issue?
None of these worked for me. Phone was set to top ringer volume and side button volume, but still no sound when calling the phone. The answer for me was in "sound and haptics" under settings. Something moved the volume to zero (not me)--must have been an update. Very frustrating as I have missed a lot of important calls because of it. It also changed my new voicemail tone!!
my wife's iPhone 13 iOS is 16.5.1. Up to date. Restart does not help. Ringtone, sound and haptic have been set to maximum. When I call her, her ring tone can barely be heard especially when she is outside of her home, like in a store. Is this a hardware issue? Where can I get help to resolve this?
The upgrade to iOS 17 re-enabled attention aware features, and I disabled it and Face ID again, but ringtone volumes are still completely borked again since media volume now also controls ringtone volume.
Although the ringtone volume is up in settings, this might be due to the volume being lowered on the phone. Try calling your wife and as the call is ringing, have your wife press the volume up button. Does the volume appear to be turned up all the way on the slider that appears? If so, you can lock the ringer volume in and prevent it being changed with the side buttons by disabling Change with Buttons if you'd like. Below guidance is from Adjust the volume on iPhone - Apple Support.
Also, check if your wife is looking at the phone while you call. This new feature called Attention Awareness will lower the volume when the camera sees the owner looking at it. Turn Attention Aware features on or off on your iPhone or iPad Pro - Apple Support
Did you checked the psychical switch to turn on the silent mode is in the right position? I was also having the same issue the ringtone wasn't working. I turned on the silent mode once and then forgot to turn it off.
Hi!
Is it possible to set a ringtone as a text tone in iOS 17? Bought a new text tone to set for one of my friends. It is categorioed as a ringtone though, so can't seem to set it as a text tone. Anyone know how to make it work?
Thankful for your help!
This I have noticed has been a HUGE requested feature throughout Google.
This is the Year 2023!! With a Firmware update along with updating the App this could be done. This should be a standard feature.
I have had my Doorbell for over a year and it so annoying having my normal Ringtone on my Android Phone as notification for the Doorbell!! On my iPad it uses the standard Ringtone for Facetime!! There is currently no possible way to change it.
Already having to address Arlo Solar Panel problem connected to Arlo 4 Pro (which finally got fixed yesterday by Firmware update), when is Arlo going to address this... If only I knew this annoying feature was there I would of looked elsewhere...
I have an Android Phone and and iPad, I DO NOT have an iPhone which is the link you directed me to. I have an Android Phone and an iPad as I mentioned above.
At the moment there is no way to change it on Android Phone or iPad. Why is this feature available for iPhone and not Android or iPad? There are just as many Android Phones out there!!
The norm is when bringing out a Product you make it available for all devices ie; Google Home is Android and they make it available across the board, even IOS.
Why do I get Emails saying that I got the answer to this problem within and to mark it as resolved. NO I did not get an answer to fix this problem The answer was for iPhone NOT Android.
So this problem still exists ty.
Arlo, when will you be providing a custom doorbell ringtone option for Android? While you're at it, why not just a notification instead of a call from my doorbell, especially when I'm home? I can see this has been an issue for years. I am just setting up my system, but will be returning it if it's true that Arlo has no intention of resolving this issue. It's one thing to have good cameras, it's an entirely different matter to have a crude security system. Notification customization is a pretty simple feature to program. I look forward to hearing from you regarding this issue.
Surely there has to be something a technology company can do to allow their customers to decide what notifications they need, especially if they are working from home. Other video door bell manufacturer's have this ability!
I totally agree, it is ridiculous, and especially with the several seconds of delay before that phone call comes, it was always distressing to me until I learned to ignore, that the phone would start ringing just as I was approaching the door to answer the doorbell. Especially the first few times, before I was used to that, and I let the incoming call go to voicemail but then couldn't find it! Was I losing my mind? No, the product designers were. Even after I understood what was going on, it would feel like too many things happening at once, and what if it was someone else calling about something important? Also annoying to fiddle with and cancel the call before I open the door, so that my visitor can have a welcoming experience. At best it delays answering the door and in most cases it means the person answering the door is slightly frazzled and has to apologize for those noises in the background, or if the doorbell annoyingly started prompting for a voicemail in a jarring mechanical voice while I was standing there trying to receive the person warmly.
Eventually I turned off the voicemail antifeature, and wish I could turn off the calls as well and just have the notification. Two-way communication could still be supported if clicking the notification brought up a screen in the app providing a push to talk function. If I could not do that, but could just set my own ringtone for the Arlo calls, at least then I could set a 30 second custom ringtone that makes an initial doorbell-like sound and then gets quieter as it goes. Maybe some people might still prefer the legacy call functionality but it could be made to support either mode.
Of course I know I would be dreaming to even request it, or to have any hope that it would ever be done, as it's very clear that Arlo has no intention of serving its smart home customers and does not understand their needs.
As there are zero replies to this query from both @JamesC and @ShayneS it just goes to prove that either they don't know the answer and can't be bothered to admit this or, if they repesent the company, the company has zero interest in the questions posted by their user-base.
I completely agreeIt sounds like this may be an archetecture desisn problem Cant make the doorbell a contact so cant give it a distinctive ring. Please adress this, should i upgrafe all my cameras? or go with Ring?? Im sure I am not the only one pondering this
For personalized support specific to the Arlo products you own, access Support from within the Arlo iOS or Android App. Simply login to your Arlo App, go to Settings, Support, then select the Arlo product you would like support for.
I press a button and I want to play a ringtone/alarm sound. I could not find an easy, straightforward sample. Yes, I already looked at Alarm clock source code... but it is not straightforward and I cannot compile it.
Your example is basically what I'm using. It never works on the emulator, however, because the emulator doesn't have any ringtones by default, and content://settings/system/ringtone doesn't resolve to anything playable. It works fine on my actual phone.
For the future googlers: use RingtoneManager.getActualDefaultRingtoneUri() instead of RingtoneManager.getDefaultUri(). According to its name, it would return the actual uri, so you can freely use it. From documentation of getActualDefaultRingtoneUri():
Returns the Uri for the default ringtone of a particular type. Rather than returning the actual ringtone's sound Uri, this will return the symbolic Uri which will resolved to the actual sound when played.
One final wrinkle - the Alert Info handling in FreePBX/Asterisk was changed rather significantly about 18 months ago, which screwed up a s-ton of working phone systems. If the articles you are using for information are older than that, this could be biting you as well.
Thanks for your reply. I appreciate the extra details to make sure my head is around the way FreePBX handles the calls. I think I understand it the proper way, but I am still learning the system.
To clarify, I am simply trying to get the alerts on the handsets to sound like an incoming call alerts the recipient at their desk with a sound one would expect. Currently, the incoming alert sounds like the handset suddenly has the speakerphone activated and is now making an outgoing call.
I think I have adjusted all the alert settings that I can find, but I will dig back through just to make sure.
Thanks also for the note about the major changes over the past 18 months. This will help me eliminate false leads as I work through it again.
