I am trying to install Groovy 4.6 tonight and I end up on that JFROG website where nothing is working, dead ends almost everywhere and this is supposed to be the official groovy installer downloading place...

Having this in mind, the cause of your problem may be the usage of the wrong binaries. That may result in the expectation of other classes or class names than provided by the up to date GROOVY_HOME directories - eventually yielding your error.
I have just downloaded and installed Groovy 2.3.3 using the Windows installer. While trying to run some of the examples using groovyclient (which tries to start groovyserver), I receive the following error.
Apparently, Groovy has some trouble running the executables if they're installed in Program Files. I'm not sure why this happens. I suspected that it may have something to do with spaces in the catalog's name but I successfully ran groovyclient installed in such a directory ( C:\Groovy\Test groovy with spaces\Groovy-2.2.1 specifically). Therefore, I suspect this has something to do with permissions.
Installing sdkman through cygwin and then installing groovy with sdkman was causing a rather deeply nested folder structure.I found the groovy library under C:\cygwin\home\\.sdkman\candidates\groovy\2.4.6.Answer provided by tim_yates :)

I found a workaround where Iff i Map this Attachment Location path in widows (maps as Z drive), i am able to use groovy to check for the existence of the image. But the problem with that is , each time my PC restarts , the Mapped drive is gone and i have to remap it for this test step to run.

Hints from N0rbert are good, however groovy is neither in -releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/ nor in also us.archive and local .archive .. groovy is gone.
