Thediscount is only good for the purchase of 1 metal detector per year. The discount cannot be applied to accessories. This is for Military members only and cannot be used for friends or family. The billing and shipping address must match the proof of military affiliation. Go-Finds and XTerra Pro are NOT included with the discount.
There are many metal detecting accessories to choose from. In fact, Kellyco offers a huge selection of all the tools you need, and lots of accessories that are not required, but they make your treasure hunting easier and more effective. Some of the tools that should be in your metal detecting tool box are:
The AN/PSS-14 revolutionizes landmine detection by combining ground penetrating radar (GPR) and highly sensitive metal detector (MD) technology using advanced data fusion algorithms. This unique combination enables the system to reliably and consistently detect anti-personnel (AP) and anti-tank (AT) mines and to reject the detection of metallic clutter, increasing operator confidence and efficiency.
In order to maximize operational effectiveness and efficiency, the AN/PSS-14 offers the highest probability of detection of any handheld system along with a minimal false alarm rate. The system maintains this level of performance across all environmental conditions and soil types, including those that are heavily mineralized.
The GPR is based on a wide-band, coherent, stepped frequency radar transceiver. The search head contains one transmit and two receive antennas. The transmit antenna produces continuous wave, low power radar. As the search head passes over the surface of the ground and radar waves strike a discontinuity in the soil, some waves are reflected back to the receive antennas and processed by the system.
An advanced metal detector coil encompasses the diameter of the sensor head. Passing current through the MD coil creates an electromagnetic field that induces an electrical current in any metal object that might be buried in the soil. The sensor head detects this secondary electromagnetic field and responds with an alarm, alerting the soldier to the possible presence of a mine.
Exceptional performance is achieved using unique data fusion algorithms, which allow the operator to effectively discriminate between metallic clutter and actual mines. The algorithms are based on terrain modeling using a real-time novelty methodology. As the operator advances, the terrain model is continuously updated, enabling the system to automatically adapt to varying soil conditions. Potential mine detection alerts are provided to the operator via audio alert signals.
Just a reminder. Minelab offers a 15% discount on any Minelab metal detector from the MAP (minimum advertised price) to U.S. active or honorably discharged members of the military. Proof of past or active service is required and must be verified by providing a copy of a DD 214 or Military ID to qualify. The discount applies only to a metal detector purchase - parts and accessories do not qualify.
Minelab is not the only one that offers Vets a discount ( of course), it's just that many companies don't advertise it. I was in a Firestone Auto Center once and was having a rather loud conversation with some obnoxious bigot, during the conversation my military service came up. When I went to pay my $1,000 tab the cute young thing behind the counter asked if I was a vet ( she was privy to the loud exchange and a minority to boot) I told her I was and she gave me a 10% discount. Since then whenever I make a major purchase I always ask if they offer a vet discount. So far I found Bass Pro Shop does and I saved $10 on hip waders. It's a two edge sword though, I went into Pioneer Mining in Auburn Ca to buy a $200 sluice and asked about a Vet discount and got railed by the old timers in there. Some of us Vietnam era vets aren't that proud but were tough.
We usually ask about Vet discounts when we shop, but I hadn't even thought about a discount on a metal detector. I figure we should get a discount even if it isn't technically for Hubby. It will get me out of his (imaginary) hair for hours at a time, so it kinda is.
Jim, we meet many Vietnam vets at our VA medical center in Viera, FL (an awesome VA, if anyone is shopping for a good one, BTW). Those guys are some of the roughest, toughest people I have ever met, mentally and physically. I, for one, am very grateful for your sacrifice and thank you for your service to our nation!
WE DO NOT ACCEPT A DD-214 AS PROOF, DO NOT SUBMIT A DD-214. See below for applicable metal detectors. Garrett Metal Detectors now offer a Military Discount on select metal detectors.

For a dealer to start to take pre-orders on the Equinox the posted price has got to be true. What we've seen on the first show and tell it's a great price in my book for all we going to get in the Equinox.
Oh don't get me wrong my MX Sport won't be forsale. It's my first love but if I do buy the Equinox I guess it could be my girl friend. I hope my wife don't find out I'm in love with two metal detectors.
FWIW, you can call a minelab dealer and they will most likely work out a bottom line price by phone, but then if you try and then include the military discount on top of the phone deal, they won't do it... that tells me the military discount is not a minelab incentive, but a minelab "approved" discount that dealers can provide without violating the minelab pricing agreement. A couple of phone calls and skipping the "free dealer add ons" will likely get you closer to 20%.
Pleasant buying experience. Manticore with the various coils is finding coins and a few pieces of jewelry. The waterproof headphones seem to work fine though I haven't submerged them yet, just used them in the rain.
I have only had the Manticore for only a few days but this detector has so far lived up to the hype. Depth is great. Identification is great. I have been detecting for over 30 years and owned many detectors. This one is the best so far. Also, Modern Metal Detectors is the best place to buy it from. The package deal was awesome!
I purchased a Minelab M9 coil and Minelab waterproof headphones for my new Minelab Manticore metal detector and as always the service was impeccable.
Great job Modern Metal Detectors.
I truly appreciate your fast delivery and wonderful service.
A growing number military dive teams and law enforcement agencies are putting underwater metal detectors to work in their search and recovery operations. They use these detectors for a variety of tasks including locating explosive devices, searching for weapons and evidence, salvage operations, looking for lost anchors and chains, and for finding for objects dropped from ships and piers. United States and Peruvian Navy divers have cooperated on several missions including the salvage of a sunken ship in Panama harbor. Peruvian Navy diver Rafael Jimenez Fonseca says "Our team relies on JW Fishers Pulse 8X detector". So do the US Navy's Mobile Diving & Salvage Units, Underwater Construction Teams, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Units, SEALs, and the Israeli Navy dive teams.
Navy dive teams aren't the only ones using underwater metal detectors (UMD). The US Air Force Rescue Wing, the USAF Reserve Command's premier combat search and rescue unit, is also employing these machines in their operations. The wing consists of over 1,500 airman trained and equipped to locate and recover US armed forces personnel in both peacetime and wartime. They also provide rescue support to NASA Space Shuttle Missions, offer search and rescue support for civilians who are lost or in distress, and assist in humanitarian and disaster relief operations. The unit has acquired several of JW Fishers Pulse 8X detectors to aid in these missions.
Another service branch using the UMD is US Army Corps of Engineers. The Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant in Texas occupies 15 thousand acres of land. It was establish in 1942 during WWII to manufacture bombs, shells, fuses, boosters, and auxiliary ammunitions. The plant operated until 2005 when it was closed down under the Base Realignment and Closure Act. Now officials are working to clean up the site. Hank Domme, Ordnance and Explosives Safety Specialist, reports using the Pulse 8X in their EOD clearance operations.
Many law enforcement agencies are also employing underwater detectors in their ops. FBI divers are often called in to help state and local police find a weapon thrown in a waterway. Criminals mistakenly believe if they dispose of a gun or knife in the water, it will be lost forever. FBI dive teams prove them wrong time and again by recovering the weapons, even when they're buried deep in mud. In one case the team managed to find all the pieces of a hand gun that was completely disassembled before being tossed into the river. Even the bomb squad in our smallest state is utilizing the underwater metal detector. After working with the FBI dive team and using one of their Pulse 8X detectors, Rhode Island Bomb Squad member Thomas Groff declared he had to have one for his team and bought an 8X.
ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms) is another bureau using these high tech tools. Their Explosive Training Branch (ETB) has added the JW Fisher detector to their arsenal. ETB conducts programs for local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to teach identification and location of explosives, and how to properly handle and dispose of them. With the threat of a terrorist attack on any front, officers need to know how to search for, and locate explosive devices that are attached to ships, bridges, piers, and other underwater structures.
