Parent2Parent Parent Match Program

Hi All,

P2P offers a program called "Parent Match" that pairs a more experienced family with DS with a new family just learning the ropes.  Sylvia Davenport, P2P Helping Parent Transition Program Director, is offering a class that would qualify us to become an advocate advisor to mentor the new families.  This training is required by DSHS.  I think we can all remember when we first learned of the challenging diagnosis that changed our lives.  Liya and I lived overseas at the time, with no support whatsoever.  We had no idea of the joy Jon was going to bring to our life eventually and did not know how to get the assistance we needed as a family to move forward.  This program will allow us to help those families facing those early challenges and welcome them to a hopeful world filled with possibilities.  Liya and I are signed up and we have space for several more parents.  The class will be at P2P offices on Friday, 1 NOV from 10-11:30ish.  If you have questions or would like to sign up- email me at in...@southsoundupwithdown.org.
