Biographical sketches of the soloists
Tony
Erin Chenard is a soprano and voice teacher from Maine. A graduate of Westminster Choir College and the USM School of Music, she holds a B.M. in Voice Performance and an M.M. in Voice Pedagogy and Performance. She regularly performs with the St. Mary Schola, an early music ensemble devoted to the performance of masterworks from the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods. Solo and professional appearances include concerts with the Amethyst Ensemble, Maine Pro Musica Orchestra, Opera On Tap, the Calderwood Consort, Music’s Quill, and Down East Singers. Erin has taught at the Portland Conservatory of Music and Bay Chamber Music School, and currently serves on the voice faculty of the University of Maine at Augusta.
Jazmin DeRice, mezzo soprano, is a Maine-based musician and performer. She has studied with the late Ellen Chickering, Margaret Yauger Smith and her late husband Malcom Smith, and Bonnie Hamilton of State University of New York at Purchase and Mannes College in New York City. Jazmin holds a BM and MM in Vocal Performance from the University of Southern Maine, and Artist Diploma in Vocal Performance from Mannes School of Music. Currently she teaches Voice at Bates College and at her own private studio in Woolwich, Maine.
Tenor David Myers, Jr. performs throughout New England, receiving praise for his “beautifully polished tone” and “attractive tenor sound” by Portland Press Herald critic Allan Kozinn. He is the executive director of the Portland String Quartet Society, the choir director at North Yarmouth Congregational Church, and a private voice teacher in the greater Portland area. David holds a Master's Degree in vocal pedagogy from the School of Music at the University of Southern Maine where he studied with the late Ellen Chickering.
Baritone John David Adams has appeared with orchestras and music ensembles such as San Francisco Symphony, Berkeley Symphony, Masterworks Chorale, Oratorio Chorale and Bowdoin Chorus. A native of the Boston area, he studied voice and opera at the Hartt School of Music and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He currently lives in midcoast Maine and teaches voice at Bay Chamber Music School in Rockport.
