Hello folks,

Of course, DoubleShot! has no Vice President... just a Vocal Percussionist... and that's me...

This is Mike from DoubleShot! - the big guy who makes all the funny noises.  I would usually post this directly to our blog, but there's a number of things going on with DoubleShot! we needed to take a minute to let you know about.  This is definitely a longer message, so bear with me.  Someone needs to be the bearer of all of this news... so save it and come back to it if you need to.

First, our show at Amalfi on Tenth tomorrow (Friday, October 16th 8:30 p.m.).  Amalfi has been a great new venue for us and we've gotten great feedback from many of you about it.  We look forward to Amalfi being one of our new long-term homes around Pittsburgh... A while ago, Nate (our tall bass guy) sent us all a story online about our friends FACE in Colorado who built a local packed-house all-vocal rock show in a local bistro.  That's definitely the direction we're headed with places like Amalfi now and in the future.  We love playing there and know we'll get there with your help -- we hope you'll continue to support our shows there.

Second, I just today visited the Hillman Center for the Performing Arts, where we're going to perform next Friday as the featured act for the Barbershop Harmony Society's Pittsburgh Metro Fall Show.  I don't know how else to describe Hillman other than calling it "the best concert venue I'd never heard of."  Hillman is "hidden" on the campus of the Shady Side Academy Senior School in Fox Chapel, and what a beautiful venue.  I'm really excited for our performance there next week.  The evening's entertainment will be great -- for those who have never heard live barbershop before, it's one of the pure American music forms and it's definitely "music lover's music".  You can email us or visit Pittsburgh Metro online (and yes, if you see our Facebook event, you'll see some familiar DoubleShot! faces in their photo from when we won dual honors singing with them in 2007).  You can also call (888) 796 - 3008 for tickets.

Here's the most important announcement -- and there will definitely be more about this as time passes -- we're sad to officially announce that one of our founding members, Dave Wilson, will be leaving us in a few short months, in early 2010.  Amidst DoubleShot! as well as our friends, family, and fans, Dave is one of the most universally loved people in the band and his departure is a loss to us.  While we are sad to see Dave go, it is great to see him moving forward on his own terms and we'll be wishing him nothing but the best as he pursues future opportunities.

And we are of course, excited about a possible new addition to the DoubleShot! lineup -- our first round of auditions for a new vocalist will be the week of November 8th, and we will be spreading the word around Pittsburgh to find our next great performer.  We have a lot of projects in the works and upcoming for 2010 and we absolutely want the best talent available to join us in those endeavors.  If you know a talented male vocalist age 18-30 in appearance looking for opportunities to sing out, have fun, and getting paid to perform, please have them reply directly to me, Mi...@Double-Shot.net or (866) 744 - 2206.  We are already starting to fill our audition slots that week and we look forward to announcing our selection by January 2010.

Finally, no message from us would be complete without saying thanks to all of you -- our many friends, family and fans that we reach throughout Pittsburgh and vocal music lovers throughout the country who read the posts from our messages via our Google Group and online through our website, Facebook, and MySpace -- and even now our blogs online on the Contemporary A Cappella Society website.  It's unreal that DoubleShot! is nearly into our fifth year together and so much of what our band does is fostered by your support of our band.  (We probably owe you a thank you just for making it to the end of this message!)

All right folks -- thanks for reading, and the guys and I are definitely looking forward to seeing all of you at our upcoming shows this Friday and next!

On behalf of the band,
Mike Yanchak
Manager / Performer
