Double Marchers,

Thanks and congrats to all of you who participated in our inaugural run.  Great fun, wasn't it?   Thanks especially to Reynard and Tony who did double duty with safety and photography.  (Those photos will be uploaded for you today).  Thanks to Shane too for recognising a potentially serious situation and prompting us to take action.  I'm happy to report that all Double Marchers were rehydrated and well by Saturday evening...

 

Our next run will be this Wednesday - I will provide the details for that as soon as they are finalised.

 

As a reminder - we will do our long runs on a Saturday morning, and Wednesdays will be used for strength or pace work, or whatever the organiser decides (within reason, of course).

 

Tanya will host our next Saturday run as well as next Wednesday's session. I need to do a roster for the weeks thereafter, so can you please indicate where you would like to fit on the schedule?   The expectation is that every club member will take a turn with planning the Saturday route, organising the water stops and safety vehicle and coordinating the Wednesday activity.

 

On a different note - Now that we have had our first run, we can say we are officially a club, and therefore need a logo.  Any artistic minds out there?   Alicia is waiting impatiently to order our team shirts, and we can't do that without that defining logo...

 

Finally (for now), the Grace Kennedy Education run will be staged on Sun 14 Jul.  Registration for that closes on Sat 29 June, so please let me know if you intend to participate.  I think it would be nice if we could register as a club.

I will be absent from Saturday's run unfortunately as I will be on HQ JDF duty. I will participate in the Grace Education run however. Can we register and pay online at www.runningeventsja.com as usual?

 Do we have a plan for this Wednesday's workout as yet?

 I volunteer to plan the route for Aug 17. However, I also propose that a roster be made and promulgated and persons can then air any concerns they have with their assigned date and switch etc if necessary...I think this would be better than waiting on people to step up and volunteer. The group is getting BIG... :D

Dear Double Marchers,

Exactly one year ago, an unnamed group from the JDF, with a few friends and family members, took to the Palisadoes Road for their first run.   It was an awesome day, (except for the hours that were spent stressing at the Medical Centre after, right H-J?)  and we have continued to have fun getting fitter.

Thanks to everyone who has made the year as meaningful as it has been.  Special big up to Sidia - she was our first non-JDF member, and to Sacha - our first spouse (anxiously awaiting your return girl!).   A few of our original runners have been missing in action, but we have had no shortage of great people...

Unfortunately, the distractions of work have kept our celebrations low key, but there's still time for us to commemorate.   In the meantime, enjoy some photos from a year ago, and if you see Elon or Richard, ask them to pay us a visit.
