Local talent makes commercial for new ABC show
02/17/12 by Janelle Gelfand
Rob Fetters, a local rock icon (The Raisins, The Bears and Psychodots)
has gathered area freelance musicians for a spot that will promote ABC-
TV’s new show, “GCB.” The show is set to debut at 10 p.m. on March 4.
Fetters runs his own music studio, where he composes and produces
commercials and TV and radio spots, many of them familiar to all
Cincinnatians. For this spot, ABC provided the lyrics for the 30-
second commercial, and Fetters made his own “somewhat twisted”
arrangement of Handel’s “Hallelujah” Chorus. West Chester’s Thom
Mariner, a CCM-trained singer and member of the Vocal Arts Ensemble,
performed the vocal lead. (Mariner is also co-publisher of Express
Cincinnati.) Mason pianist and arranger Jeff Smith arranged the choral
parts.
“GCB” is an acronym for “Good Christian B!#@$es,” a Texas-sized,
congregation-based version of “Desperate Housewives,” starring Leslie
Bibb, Kristin Chenoweth and Annie Potts, among others. “GCB” has
already stirred up controversy for its flagrant title and for
glamorizing less-than-Christian behavior among the faithful. There
have been frequent rumors about name changes to something more benign,
such as “Good Christian Belles.”
