With the full release of SQL 2012 last week I was wondering if anyone is planning to roll it out into production? My gut tells me to always wait for SP1.. just curios what others are doing.

We are setting up 4 new DB boxes this week all on SQL 2008 R2 , as part of that exercise we were doing some investigations into alternatives and upgrades.

Happy pattys day!

Why you would want to? IMHO, unless there's a must-have feature, let others shake it out a bit first.

Is there a core feature you want or need? If not I would just go with 2008r2 for now.

The only major feature I really like is the AlwaysOn or Availability Group, it looks freaking cool if you ask me :) http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff877884%28SQL.110%29.aspx

We are sticking with SQL 2008 R2 for the time being , not worth the risk.

Just FYI If anyone is in the market for new machines we just picked up several quad proc / 16 spindle / 192gig ram boxes at pretty reasonable rates. They had good sales going especially on the redundant power supplies, drives, and ram.

We have been running dell R710's for 9+ months (replaced 2950's) with really good results, so we decided to buy more of the R710's.
