I am about to spec the attributes that will be used in unsolicited assertions to a few of our partners.   Since the public constructor version of ClaimsResponse is not yet available, I am falling back on Attribute Exchange.

It appears that axchema.org is no longer a working site, does that mean that DotNetOpenAuth.OpenId.Extensions.AttributeExchange.WellKnownAttributes is there for backward compatibility only at this point?

There is a draft for well known AX namespaces defined at http://openid.net/specs/openid-attribute-properties-list-1_0-01.html but that is just a very old draft and never progressed to specification.

Lacking any publicly hosted specification my assumption is that there is no standard definition for well known attributes. If that is the case and since I am in control of specifying what will be sent in the unsolicited assertion to our vendors I am thinking I am OK continuing to use the DotNetOpenAuth WellKnownAttributes definitions.

I was hoping I could get some verification of my assumptions.

Thank you,
Rich

The AX spec came with high hopes, and low delivery.  I'm not surprised that the axschema.org site (if there ever was one, actually) is down.  But that doesn't impact the use of those URIs, and I believe the URIs in WellKnownAttributes are still the most common, so I recommend you go with that.  But you're right: as long as everyone you need is talking the same language, it doesn't matter.

The axschema.org site was one that an individual was running.  It is mostly important to document the use of the URI.

Those URI can continue to be used with or without the site.

There was a discussion a while ago about transferring the domain and putting the site back up.   I will have to look in to what happened.

The URI are just collision resistant names.  The protocol is not dereferencing them.
