Hi friends,

sorry for this message if it hurts anyone.

Can you please clarify whether abbreviation for .NET is there.

Today our PL asked in an interview about .NET abbreviation and

one guy told it is "NETWORK ENABLED TECHNOLOGY".

I got confused by listening to it.

For .NET actually there is no abbreviation na.

Can anyone clarify this please.

With regards

Bharathi Kumar.

A very good question! I would think it would stand for interNET because a while back Microsoft wanted to make web based product sales where you would pay per hour - it was called .NET (i.e. you would visit a website and use software while online). Network enabled technology sound pretty convincing though. I'll look around and see what I can come up with.

However cool it sounds and however meaningful it is but I am 99% sure
it is not officially correct. (logic is ok)

".NET is the Microsoft Web services strategy to connect information,
people, systems, and devices through software"

Yeah, a contact in MS says:

It is not an abbreviation or acronym for anything; it is simply a message Microsoft products are connected and integrated both internally and through the cloud. Here is a technical perspective http://www.csharphelp.com/archives4/archive613.html

So there you have it: nothing.
