Job Description: The Senior System Database Administrator is responsible for the end to end management, support and enablement of the enterprise Oracle and SQL Server environments. The person in this role will be responsible for maintaining database standards, design of physical data storage, access and security administration, backup, recovery and archival tasks across production and non-production environments. Optimizes database access and allocates/re-allocates database resources for optimum configuration and database performance. The Core responsibilities for this role are: Strategy (25%): Expertise with administering one or more database systems, including the design, implementation, and support of physical data storage (databases) Ability to define, implement and enforce data standards Ability to troubleshoot and help solve problems Proven capability to optimize databases and review overall physical database structures for data integrity, performance quality, recoverability, maintenance, and space requirements considerations Define data repository requirements Define data storage, maintenance access, and security standards. Execution (60%): Maintain production and non-production databases Perform back, recovery, and archival tasks on database management systems Configure database parameters and prototype designs against logical data models Perform database installations, upgrades, migrations and apply latest patches. Building Capabilities (15%): Stay up-to-date on database technology Server as a project leader for database initiatives Mentor peers to help build capabilities Maintain environment documentation for areas of responsibility Identify opportunities for improvements in efficiency and responsiveness, make recommendations and implement efficiencies as necessary
